The Blue Wave Grows As 2.3 Million People Participated In The 2018 Women’s March

According to data being collected by researchers the total number of participants in the 2018 women’s march range from 1.5 million to 2.3 million Americans across the US.
According to data being collected by Jeremy Pressman (U of Connecticut) and Erica Chenoweth (U of Denver), the crowds were massive for the 2018 women’s march. An estimated 1.5 million-2.3 million+ people participated.

This data should be terrifying for Trump and the Republican Party because the 2018 march was focused on mobilizing people for 2018 midterm elections.

On Sunday, organizers are hosting a Power To The Polls event that will launch a national voter registration drive to transform the energy of protest into action at the ballot box. According to organizers, “The national voter registration tour will target swing states to register new voters, engage impacted communities, harness our collective energy to advocate for policies and candidates that reflect our values, and collaborate with our partners to elect more women and progressives candidates to office. The coordinated campaign will build upon Women’s March’s ongoing work uplifting the voices and campaigns of the nation’s most marginalized communities to create transformative social and political change.”

Men and women were protesting this administration and the Republican Party for a variety of reasons yesterday, but what should shake Republicans to their core is that this movement is not going away. It is getting stronger and maturing into electoral action.

On any other Saturday, the mass national protest would have dominated the news, but because Republicans shut down the government, the protests had to share coverage with the government shutdown. More media attention would have been great, but the women’s march movement has an inertia all of its own. An outside group mobilizing potentially millions of voters to turn out in swing states is the worst nightmare of Republicans.

People are already activated. They are now being mobilized and prepared to use their ballot as a mechanism to create the change that they desire.
