The Trump State Department Has Spent $0 To Fight Russian Election Attacks

The Trump State Department was granted $120 million to fight Russian election meddling, and they haven’t spent a single penny.
The New York Times reported, “As Russia’s virtual war against the United States continues unabated with the midterm elections approaching, the State Department has yet to spend any of the $120 million it has been allocated since late 2016 to counter foreign efforts to meddle in elections or sow distrust in democracy. As a result, not one of the 23 analysts working in the department’s Global Engagement Center — which has been tasked with countering Moscow’s disinformation campaign — speaks Russian, and a department hiring freeze has hindered efforts to recruit the computer experts needed to track the Russian efforts.”

Trump is intentionally not spending money to protect the US from Russian attacks

The Trump administration has been given the money, security experts are begging them to spend it, but Trump’s State Department is making an intentional decision not to protect the integrity of US elections.

The answer why is both simple and obvious. Trump and his party benefit from Russian election interference. Trump needs to keep election back door unlocked for Putin because that is the only way that he and his party can stay in power. The failure of the Trump administration to protect America is all about the Republicans finding a new way, and a new partner to help them cheat to win.

The State Department’s lack of spending is proof that Trump wants the Russians to interfere. He is rolling out the red carpet and violating his oath of office by not lifting a finger to stop Putin.
