Stormy Daniels’ Attorney Proves Cohen Tried to Keep Him Off the Case

Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti has been saying for weeks now that Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen has been trying to silence his client using improper means.

Today Avenatti released to the press an email which proves that Cohen attempted to stop Daniels from hiring Avenatti as her lawyer.

The email is dated February 22, 2018 and is addressed to Keith Davidson, a lawyer who had previously represented Daniels during her negotiations of the nondisclosure agreement (NDA) between her and Donald Trump.

In the email Cohen writes:

“It is my understanding that Ms. Clifford has or is seeking the advice of additional counsel regarding the above matter.”  (The “above matter” was referenced in the email’s subject line as “PP -vs- DD NDA.” This stands for “Peggy Peterson” vs “David Dennison,” “Nondisclosure Agreement”)

Avenatti has previously clarified that Peggy Peterson was an alias for Clifford and David Dennison was an alias for Donald Trump.

The email goes on to that that “As you are aware, Exhibit A, side letter agreement, contains specific language and is deemed Attorneys Eyes Only; specifically naming only you and I.”

“Under no circumstances should you forward this document or the exhibits to anyone without my express written consent.”

The email was signed “Michael D. Cohen, Esq., Personal Attorney to President Donald J. Trump.”

Daniels of course did hire Avenatti, and filed a lawsuit arguing that the NDA is null and void because Trump (David Dennison) didn’t sign it.  Cohen on the other hand has argued that the president had no need to sign the NDA since he was not a party to the contract.

Cohen has stated that he believes the only parties to the NDA contract were Clifford herself and a company Cohen created to pay her hush money in October of 2016, just before the election of Trump as president.

But Avenatti says the significance of the email from Cohen is that the subject line specifically refers to “DD” — who is Donald Trump — and this proves he WAS a party to the contract.

“Michael Cohen himself described the agreement in the email as one with DD (Donald Trump) — which is directly contrary to what he has said in the past publicly,” Avenatti said on MSNBC. “As late as one month ago, Cohen was continuing to take steps to prevent my client from getting a new attorney to help her exercise her rights.”

“Cohen was acting as counsel to Mr. Trump when he was attempting to silence her,” Avenatti added.
