While many Democrats are reluctant to make impeachment an issue in this year’s midterm elections, Rep. Maxine Waters pointed to this week’s bombshell developments as a reason not to be.

The outspoken Trump critic said Democrats can “walk and chew gum at the same time,” focusing on both the issues important to voters and the president’s admitted federal crimes.
“We can’t turn a blind eye to this president who is destroying this country,” Rep. Water said.

Rep. Waters said:
I’ve always felt we could walk and chew gum at the same time. I know some of the Democrats are saying, “Please don’t mention the word impeachment, don’t worry about the investigation, let Mueller take care of that. We have got to talk about our issues.” We can do both. We can talk about healthcare. We can talk about Obamacare. We can talk about Medicaid and Medicare. We can talk about the infrastructure and how it needs to be built up. We can talk about all of these things at the same time. We can’t turn a blind eye to this president who is destroying this country.
Yes, Democrats should be careful not to let talk of presidential impeachment overshadow the rest of the issues important to American voters. But they shouldn’t step so far in that direction that they avoid addressing the crimes – both admitted and potential – the president of the United States has committed.
In court on Tuesday, Michael Cohen said – under oath – that the president of the United States directed him to commit a crime with the main purpose of influencing the presidential election. In an interview set to air on Thursday morning, Trump seemingly backed up these claims.
We have reached uncharted territory now. Talk of holding Trump accountable for his crimes is no longer hysteria coming from Democrats who have always opposed this president. It’s increasingly becoming a moral imperative.
