In a desperate tweet just days before the midterm elections, Donald Trump couldn’t even spell the name of his newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh when he attacked the judge’s accusers.

“A vicious accuser of Justice Kavanough has just admitted that she was lying, her story was totally made up, or FAKE!” Trump said. “Can you imagine if he didn’t become a Justice of the Supreme Court because of her disgusting False Statements.”
He added: “What about the others? Where are the Dems on this?”
Trump has since deleted the tweet and posted a corrected version, but MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin captured the glaring mistake:
Trump’s misspelled tantrum comes after Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley announced on Friday that he was asking the Justice Department to investigate a “fabricated allegation” against Kavanaugh.
It’s important to note: The claims Grassley wants to be probed aren’t those of Dr. Ford or even Deborah Ramirez – the two most high-profile, credible accusers.
Instead, as The Hill reported on Saturday, the GOP-led committee is asking the DOJ to investigate allegations from a woman named Judy Munro-Leighton.
In other words, by focusing on Munro-Leighton, they are trying to divert from the serious and credible stories of Dr. Ford and Deborah Ramirez.
Trump and Republicans in Congress are running scared ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections. In recent weeks, as voters key in on the elections, the polls have moved in favor of the Democrats.
As PoliticusUSA’s Leo Vidal pointed out, recent Senate polling now shows that the GOP’s supposed hold on that chamber of Congress might not be as strong as many people think.
That’s why Trump is trying to gin up enthusiasm and anger about Kavanaugh, the caravan and immigration more broadly before next week’s elections. They know they’re losing and they’re grasping at straws to minimize the damage voters plan to do to the GOP majority in Congress.
