Ivanka Trump Caught Violating The Law By Using A Personal Email For Government Business

A new bombshell report shows that Donald Trump‘s daughter Ivanka Trump was caught violating federal records rules by using a personal email account to carry out White House business.

According to The Washington Post, “Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules, according to people familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence.”

What’s worse, according to the report, is that she didn’t even know that there were rules about using a personal email account for government affairs.

More from the jaw-dropping report from The Washington Post:

White House ethics officials learned of Trump’s repeated use of personal email when reviewing emails gathered last fall by five Cabinet agencies to respond to a public records lawsuit. That review revealed that throughout much of 2017, she often discussed or relayed official White House business using a private email account with a domain that she shares with her husband, Jared Kushner.

The discovery alarmed some advisers to President Trump, who feared that his daughter’s practices bore similarities to the personal email use of Hillary Clinton, an issue he made a focus of his 2016 campaign. Trump attacked his Democratic challenger as untrustworthy and dubbed her “Crooked Hillary” for using a personal email account as secretary of state.

Some aides were startled by the volume of Ivanka Trump’s personal emails — and taken aback by her response when questioned about the practice. Trump said she was not familiar with some details of the rules, according to people with knowledge of her reaction.

The report adds, citing Ivanka Trump‘s attorney and ethics counsel, that once the first daughter was informed that she was violating the law, she eventually turned over all government-related emails.

Still, it’s hard to believe that after spending an entire campaign attacking Hillary Clinton‘s email use, the president’s daughter wasn’t aware of the rules she was violating.

Lock her up?

Throughout the campaign, Trump and his supporters repeatedly said Hillary Clinton should be locked up for using a personal email account. Apparently, they don’t hold themselves to the same standard.

That’s abundantly clear, whether it’s in this bombshell revelation about Ivanka Trump‘s email use or the fact that her father knowingly uses a mobile device that Chinese and Russian hackers can listen in on.

This is just another example of how the Trump administration and family believe the rules simply don’t apply to them.

When Democrats take over the U.S. House of Representatives in January, they can add it to their list of matters to investigate.
