Ari Melber Takes Fox News To The Woodshed For Defending Trump’s Work-Free Presidency

MSNBC host Ari Melber tore into Fox News on Wednesday for its pathetic defense of Donald Trump’s laziness, especially after the right-wing propaganda network spent eight years attacking Barack Obama’s work ethic.

“We know Trump is working less in the Oval Office than Obama or past presidents,” Melber said. “We also know these same Fox pundits defending Trump’s executive time schedule lit up President Obama for being, quote, too leisurely, which does expose their double standard.”

The MSNBC host added, “The facts still matter.”

Melber said:

Now, I want to be very clear because we’ve been reporting on this. There’s nothing automatically ideological about this topic. Donald Trump doesn’t work a lot in the White House. If you’re a Trump fan, logically you might want him to work more to be more productive. Our original report noting, Trump, for example, has failed to appoint many key posts. That’s part of the work of his job and that would seem to be bad news for any of his fans and perhaps good news for Trump critics who don’t want him being productive. And that’s why this whole thing is getting weirder and weirder. We know that leaving this much opened scheduled time is not common among top CEOs. Trump works less than them. And we know Trump is working less in the Oval Office than Obama or past presidents. We also know these same Fox pundits defending Trump’s executive time schedule lit up President Obama for being, quote, too leisurely, which does expose their double standard because we also know Trump golfs far more than Obama based on two years of data. … If you just want your president to seem or look effective as some kind of political game, maybe you defend Trump when he golfs a lot and maybe you hope no one notices that you hypocritically blasted Obama when he golfed less. So maybe these people just literally hope they don’t get caught. They hope you’re not watching this or maybe they don’t care much if they do get caught because some people view all of this as another game. We wanted to bring you this update because it’s not game. The facts still matter, no matter what the score is.

The pro-Trump propaganda network repeatedly attacked Obama for golfing

Fox News never hesitated to attack Barack Obama each time he set foot on a golf course during his presidency. Now, as Donald Trump slacks his way through the presidency, they remain silent – or, worse, come up ludicrous justifications for the president’s laziness.

But as Ari Melber said on Wednesday, facts are facts.

According to NBC News, Trump has spent nearly a quarter of his time as president at one of his lavish golf clubs. He’s spent roughly 30 percent of his presidency at one of his properties.

While it’s no surprise that the right-wing propaganda network would demonstrate such hypocrisy with its coverage of Trump’s work schedule versus that of Obama, it’s hard to find a Fox News double standard as blatant as this.
