Adam Schiff’s demand carries a ton of weight. It’s his committee that is responsible for oversight of the intelligence community. Rep. Schiff isn’t going let William Barr declassify secret sources and methods to help Donald Trump cook up a conspiracy that they hope will save the president’s reelection campaign. The intelligence community is required by law to keep Congress informed of Barr’s activities.
Trump was wrong to believe that he gave Barr unlimited power to build a “deep state” conspiracy that he can use to muddy the political waters in 2020. Adam Schiff is watching, and the chairman just cut Barr’s efforts to work in secret off at the knees.
