Not long after former vice president Joe Biden held an event in Iowa and turned Donald Trump’s campaign slogan upside down, Donald Trump completely melted down.
In a speech, the rambling president couldn’t help but show how afraid he is of Biden, reviving his juvenile “sleepy” nickname to describe and spewing lies about the former vice president.
“America must never again be held hostage to foreign suppliers of energy as we were under the Obama/Biden – sleep Joe – group,” Trump said, hoping the American people forget that he has spent the past two years kowtowing to foreign adversaries like Russia, North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
As Aaron Rupar of Vox noted during Trump’s speech, “Trump is in Iowa completely making stuff up to demean Joe Biden.”
For further evidence that Donald Trump was completely off his rocker on Tuesday in Iowa, even Fox Business Channel had to cut away from the president’s speech.
During a bizarre ramble about broadband in rural Iowa, Trump openly wondered why tractors couldn’t connect to the internet. That was enough for the Trump-friendly network to cut away.
There were a lot of takeaways from the dueling Biden-Trump events in Iowa on Tuesday, but there were two that stood out above all others: 1. Donald Trump is increasingly unstable; and 2. He’s terrified of Joe Biden.
Trump’s bizarre and incoherent ramble in the Hawkeye State comes hours after a new poll shows Biden beating him nationally by “landslide proportions.”
According to the Quinnipiac University survey released Tuesday, the former VP has the support of 53 percent of registered voters, compared to 40 percent for Trump.
“It’s a long 17 months to Election Day, but Joe Biden is ahead by landslide proportions,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll.
The same survey showed every other leading candidate beating Trump by no less than five percentage points.
But as is the case with other recent 2020 polling, Biden’s hypothetical margin of victory over Trump – 13 points – was the largest. It further bolsters the former VP’s argument that he is the strongest candidate to topple this dangerous and unfit president.
