Joe Biden Demands That Cory Booker Apologize To Him

After Sen. Booker demanded an apology for Biden’s comments about working with a segregationist senator, the former vice president told Cory Booker that he knows better and demanded Booker apologize to him.

Here was Booker’s statement about Biden’s comments about James Eastland:

Biden responded, “The point I’m making is you don’t have to agree. You don’t have to like the people in terms of their views, but you just simply make the case and you beat them. You beat them without changing the system.”

When asked how it felt that his Democratic rivals are implicitly saying you have issues talking about race, Biden answered, “They Know better.”

Biden was asked if he was going to apologize, and he shot back, “Apologize for what? Cory should apologize. He knows better. There’s not a racist bone in my body. I’ve been involved in civil rights my whole career. Period. Period. Period.”

The implied suggestion that the man who served as vice president to the nation’s first African-American president is racist is almost as absurd as Bernie Sanders calling Elizabeth Warren a corporate Democrat.

The Democratic primary has entered the silly season where candidates who have seen their momentum stall, or not take off at all have started to lob attacks at those who are at the top of the polls. So far, Biden’s rivals for the nomination have found nothing that will stick. There is a serious question as to whether Joe Biden’s vision of a Senate that doesn’t exist anymore is too outdated for the toxic environment of partisan warfare that has gripped Congress, but the idea that Biden is a racist, or condones racism is absurd, and a sign that opposing campaigns are getting desperate to stop the frontrunner.
