Donald Trump announced on Monday that after the 4th of July holiday ends on Thursday, the sweeping deportation raids that he recently delayed are back on.

As The Hill reported, “The president made the announcement in the Oval Office while signing legislation providing $4.6 billion in funding to address the influx of migrants from Central America at the southern border.”
The president said, “After July 4, a lot of people are going to be brought back out.”
On June 22, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi convinced Trump to put off the raids. The president caved in and delayed them, but he tweeted at the time that his delay would only last for two weeks.
“At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border,” he said. “If not, Deportations start!”
If Trump sticks to that two-week deadline, then the deportation raids could start on July 6th – over the 4th of July weekend.
The ICE raids that Trump delayed and looks poised to carry out again will target as many as 2,000 immigrant families in 10 major U.S. cities. If that’s not bad enough, Trump’s own acting DHS secretary said that the raids will only separate more children from their families.
All of this is taking place against the backdrop of migrant children being held under inhumane conditions in detention centers on the southern border as the Trump administration argues that they don’t deserve beds or soap or toothpaste.
Leave it to Donald Trump to use the 4th of July holiday to continue his rampage against American values.
