South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham was put in his place by Rep. Ilhan Omar on Thursday after he had the nerve to compare Donald Trump to late Arizona Sen. John McCain.

In a tweet, Graham dismissed the obvious fact that Trump is a racist, saying, “If you are a Republican nominee for President – or President – you will be accused of being a racist.”
He added, “John Lewis compared John McCain’s campaign to being like that of George Wallace. It comes with the territory unfortunately.”
Suggesting that Trump is falsely being called a bigot and then comparing him to John McCain is laughable, and Rep. Omar made him pay without having to utter a single word.
In a Twitter post, Rep. Omar simply reminded Sen. Graham what he said about Trump before he lost his spine and became the president’s lapdog: “Donald Trump is a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot.”
After instant bipartisan backlash, Trump denounced his own supporters on Thursday for chanting “send her back” in response to the president’s attacks on Rep. Omar. But if the chant truly bothered Trump, he would’ve immediately shut it down.
Meghan McCain reminded Trump and his loyal supporters how real leaders standard up to racists, even if they happen to be your supporters. In a tweet, she shared the famous clip of her dad shutting down one of his rallygoers in 2008 after she claimed Barack Obama was an Arab.
“For anyone who needs reminding of how a lot of Republicans like me were raised and how we view the world,” McCain wrote.
On Thursday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Donald Trump and all the Republicans still defending this president need that reminder.
