Susan Collins Could Be Toast As Her Approval Rating Plummets In Maine

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) is now the second least popular Senator in America as her approval rating has plummeted to a net (-16) in Maine.

Susan Collins Is Looking At Defeat In 2020

According to Morning Consult’s Senator Approval ratings, Susan Collins is now America’s most vulnerable Senator in 2020, “Collins’ net approval — the share of voters who approve of her job performance minus the share who disapprove — has fallen by 44 percentage points since the first quarter of 2017, when Trump took office. Forty-five percent of Mainers approve of Collins and 48 percent disapprove in the latest rankings, down 16 net points since quarter one of this year, as her campaign gears up in earnest to face a Democratic challenge from state House Speaker Sara Gideon.”

No Senator has lost more for supporting Trump than Collins. Sen. Collins is most infamous for voting to confirm Trump Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, but she has also mastered the dark art of the bland statement that expresses “concern” about Donald Trump while never actually taking a stand against or condemning him. She also voted for Trump’s tax cuts for the rich, but in the end, she will be defined by her vote for Kavanaugh which is viewed as the single moment that put reproductive freedom in jeopardy.

Republicans were supposed to be able to maintain their Senate majority in 2020 with Trump at the top of the ticket, but Collins’ unpopularity combined with statutory rapist Roy Moore running for Senate in Alabama, and white supremacist Kris Kobach running for Senate in Kansas has given Democrats a clear path to dethroning Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader.

Collins is in free fall, and she may be unsavable in Maine. Sen. Collins showed her true colors with the Kavanaugh vote. Maine voters still remember and are set to give her the boot in November 2020.
