Trump Is Blaming Obama For His Embarrassing G7 Performance

Donald Trump had a disastrous performance at the G7 in France, which is why he played his favorite card on Monday before leaving the summit: Blame Barack Obama.

During a discussion on MSNBC’s Hardball, White House reporter Yamiche Alcindor pointed out that Trump’s habit of blaming Obama for his own failures is something of a “nervous tick.”

“In this case, he’s blaming Obama for the G7, he’s blamed him for immigration, he’s blamed him for not being tough on China,” Alcindor said, suggesting that Trump is only pointing the finger at Obama to deflect from his own weakness when it comes to Russia, which was again on display at the summit.

“There is, his opponents would say, something weird going on with President Trump and Russia in this case,” Alcindor added.

Alcindor reported on Trump’s Obama-blaming:

Well, opponents of the president would say there is something obviously weird going on with him and Russia. His opponents would say that he obviously has some sort of affinity for Russia. Maybe he’s even feeling pressured by his business connections with Russia. Of course, the president himself would say that he really is interested in having Russia be part of the table because so many people are talking about Russia. So many people are talking about annexing Russia. When I pressed him and said why do you keep changing and why do you keep doubling down on the idea that Obama was outsmarted when every other country in the world has said that it’s because Russia annexed Crimea why they were kicked out of the G7, he wouldn’t answer that question. Instead, he went back to what opponents say is his nervous tick, which is to blame President Obama for all sorts of stuff. In this case, he’s blaming Obama for the G7, he’s blamed him for immigration, he’s blamed him for not being tough on China. But there is, his opponents would say, something weird going on with President Trump and Russia in this case.

Trump is a constant embarrassment on the world stage

Donald Trump’s performance at the G7 summit in France was an embarrassment from the moment it began.

Whether it’s skipping out on key meetings while spewing nonsense on Twitter, being outplayed by our allies or – again – bowing down to Vladimir Putin, Trump’s flaws are only enhanced when he’s standing next to world leaders who actually take their jobs seriously.

Donald Trump may like to attack Obama when he’s feeling insecure about his own failures, but it only reminds America and the rest of the world that he’ll never measure up to his predecessor.
