Dems Prepare To Hold Corey Lewandowski In Contempt For Obstructing Justice To Protect Trump

Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski may be accustomed to protecting his former boss, but his behavior during a congressional impeachment hearing on Tuesday crossed the line into obstruction of justice.

As a result, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are preparing to hold Lewandowski in contempt for refusing to answer questions while using the hearing to launch a Senate bid in New Hampshire.

According to The Hill, Lewandowski appeared to be taken aback when Nadler told him, “I’ve been asked several times today whether the committee will hold you in contempt. It is certainly under consideration.”

MSNBC’s Ari Melber showed one moment from the hearing when Rep. Jerry Nadler reminded Lewandowski that he is obligated to answer the committee’s questions.

Rep. Nadler said:

Mr. Lewandowski, when you refuse to answer these questions, you are obstructing the work of our committee. You are also proving our point for the American people to see. The president is intent on obstructing our legitimate oversight. You are aiding him in that obstruction. I will remind you that article 3 of the impeachment against President Nixon was based on obstruction of Congress. You are instructed to answer the question.

Lewandowski obstructs justice during a hearing about Trump’s obstruction

The man reason Corey Lewandowski was sitting before the committee on Tuesday was to testify about his role in helping Donald Trump obstruct the Russia investigation.

By refusing to answer questions regarding that serious matter, he dug his hole even deeper by exposing himself as a liar and continuing to obstruct justice for the president.

Donald Trump may call this corruption “beautiful,” but his former campaign manager has only bolstered the case for impeachment.
