‘Beginning Of The Fall’: Historian Predicts More Treasonous Transcripts Will Bring Trump Down

Presidential historian Jon Meacham had some bad news for Donald Trump on Saturday: The next seven days of his presidency could be even worse than the last seven days – and that’s saying something given how bad the past week has been.

During an interview with MSNBC’s AM Joy, Meacham said that the last week has created an environment where people on the inside can feel more comfortable blowing the whistle on this president’s treasonous behavior.

As a result, Meacham said, “I think it’s highly possible … that in seven days we will be talking about conversations with other world leaders, other outreach, where the president of the United States has decided that our national sovereignty is less significant than his own political performance.”

Meacham said:

I don’t think we should underestimate the power of that memo or — and this is speculative, but I think it’s informed speculation — I think we’re getting ready for yet another week of — and perhaps week after that, week after that because what’s happened now, I think, is the atmosphere has become a little safer for people who know about similar things, if similar things unfolded, and we already have the Russian example from The Post last night, to actually raise their voices or at least to bring forward through whatever process this — these kinds of conversations. So I think it’s highly possible, check me on it, that in seven days we will be talking about conversations with other world leaders, other outreach, where the president of the United States has decided that our national sovereignty is less significant than his own political performance.

‘The beginning of the fall’

Even after his dumpster fire week, Donald Trump and most of his Republican protectors in Congress have maintained that there is nothing to see here.

But as Jon Meacham also noted on Saturday, failed empires and presidencies often start with a man shouting confidently that he’s innocent and nothing can stop him.

“I think Donald Trump thinks he’s invulnerable,” Meacham said. “In all tragedy beginning with the Greeks, that’s always the beginning of the fall.”

America is witnessing the beginning of the fall of Donald Trump, regardless of whether he or his Republican sycophants recognize it.
