Rachel Maddow And Chris Hayes Burst Into Laughter Over Trump’s Lack Of Intelligence

MSNBC hosts Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow had a hard time controlling their laughter on Wednesday night over Donald Trump’s sheer stupidity.

Earlier in his program, Hayes recounted an incident from Monday when Trump repeatedly wished Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe a happy birthday.

The only problem, of course, is that it wasn’t Abe’s birthday. It was actually Russian President Vladimir Putin’s birthday. Yet, as Hayes pointed out, the president “kept going back to it over and over.”

“You know, his brain is a stream and there’s little bits of refuse that get thrown into it and they just float down the stream,” the ‘All In’ host said. “So someone at some point balled up a Starbucks wrapper that is Shinzo Abe’s birthday and tossed it in.”

Maddow theorized that one of Trump’s aides feared he would go on live television and repeatedly wish Putin a happy birthday – not a good look, obviously – so they intentionally told him that it was Abe’s birthday instead, even though it wasn’t.

MADDOW: Chris Hayes, is it actually true that when Trump was repeatedly wishing a happy birthday to Shinzo Abe, it wasn’t Shinzo Abe’s birthday?

HAYES: Yes, it was. I know. And he kept going back to it over and over. Someone – he’d like seen it somewhere, or someone had put it –– You know, his brain is a stream and there’s little bits of refuse that get thrown into it and they just float down the stream. So Someone at some point balled up a Starbucks wrapper that is Shinzo Abe’s birthday and tossed it in.

MADDOW: Here’s what I think happened. Because, as you noted, it was actually Vladimir Putin’s birthday. I think what somebody did is they realized that Trump was about to go on camera planning to wish happy birthday to Vladimir Putin and so they just randomly picked another world leader whose name they could spell without looking it up and just randomly changed it in his notes or his teleprompter to make sure he wouldn’t accidentally get on camera and repeatedly wish happy birthday to Vladimir Putin.

HAYES: A strong theory.

MADDOW: Well, Abe is easy to spell as these things go.

Trump is a dangerous combination of stupidity and confidence

Donald Trump has frequently boasted about having a “very, very large brain.” This week, he even claimed to have “great and unmatched wisdom” when discussing the potential of Turkey invading Syria.

Of course, nobody who is truly smart speaks and acts the way this president does. On a daily basis, he demonstrates that he has the intellectual and emotional depth of a toddler – no offense to toddlers.

So as the impeachment battle rages on and Donald Trump brings the country to the verge of a constitutional crisis by simply ignoring the authority of Congress, it’s sometimes worthwhile to stop and chuckle at this bumbling man’s sheer stupidity.

In the end, it’ll likely be his undoing.
