Trump’s 2020 Campaign Throws A Fit After Twitter Says They Can’t Buy Fact-Free Political Ads

Donald Trump’s reelection campaign threw a tantrum on Wednesday after Twitter announced that political ads will no longer be allowed on the president’s favorite social media platform.

In a statement, Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale whined, “Twitter just walked away from hundreds of millions of dollars of potential revenue, a very dumb decision for their stockholders.”

He added, “Will Twitter also be stopping ads from biased liberal media outlets who will now run unchecked as they buy obvious political content meant to attack Republicans? This is yet another attempt to silence conservatives, since Twitter knows President Trump has the most sophisticated online program ever known.”

According to The Hill, “Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced the policy change Wednesday, saying the company will no longer accept political advertising that promotes candidates or particular hot-button issues.”

It’s unclear why Trump’s campaign is calling the move an attack on conservatives since Twitter’s decision doesn’t apply to a particular political party – but playing the victim is sort of part of the MAGA brand.

Spreading lies is a pillar of the Trump campaign

Despite what Brad Parscale’s said on Wednesday, the Trump campaign doesn’t really care whether or not Twitter is going to lose money from this decision. They also couldn’t care less about eliminating so-called bias from social media platforms.

What really irritates the Trump campaign is that a major part of their campaign strategy relies on the ability to spread their lies on the internet.

As The Hill pointed out on Wednesday, “The president’s campaign has prioritized digital advertising ahead of the 2020 race, pouring millions of dollars into content over a variety of online platforms.”

Jack Dorsey’s decision to no longer run paid political advertisements on Twitter takes at least one tool – pouring endless amounts of money into fact-free ads – out of the president’s chest.

With Trump’s poll numbers in the cellar and impeachment burying him, it’s no surprise Donald Trump’s campaign isn’t thrilled that it will become just a little bit more difficult to spew their lies.
