Jerry Nadler Tells Trump To Stop Complaining And Show Up At Impeachment Hearing

House Judiciary Committee chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) told Trump to stop complaining and show up at the impeachment hearing on December 4.

Nadler said in a statement provided to PoliticusUSA announcing the Judiciary Committee impeachment hearing:

As Chairman Schiff indicated yesterday, the impeachment inquiry is entering into a new phase. Today, we noticed a hearing on the ‘Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment.’ That hearing will take place next Wednesday, December 4th at 10:00 am. Our first task is to explore the framework put in place to respond to serious allegations of impeachable misconduct like those against President Trump.

I have also written to President Trump to remind him that the Committee’s impeachment inquiry rules allow for the President to attend the hearing and for his counsel to question the witness panel. At base, the President has a choice to make: he can take this opportunity to be represented in the impeachment hearings, or he can stop complaining about the process. I hope that he chooses to participate in the inquiry, directly or through counsel, as other Presidents have done before him.

There has never been anything, besides his guilt, stopping Donald Trump from showing up. As Speaker Pelosi put it, Trump was welcome to come down the street and testify anytime that he wants to. No one was stopping him from participating.

The talk from Republicans about the process is empty excuse-making.

The White House doesn’t want Trump anywhere near the impeachment hearings because he will perjure himself.

Chairman Nadler was correct. It is time for Trump to put up or shut up. He has an open invitation to participate in the impeachment hearings. If he chooses not to do so, it says more about Trump than the process that Democrats are using.
