Federal District Court Magistrate Judge Zia Farriqui went off on the Trump administration for ten minutes after the DOJ announced another dismissal of a DC federal case.
That's why Schumer and Biden prioritized confirming judges when Rs flipped the House in 2022 and confirmed as many as they could during the lame duck period after the 2024 election. I wish they had managed to fill ALL those seats, now we're getting unqualified idiots like Bove in the federal judiciary.
They did manage to fill almost all of them. Trump has a record low number of judicial openings (47). Biden nominated and Schumer confirmed 228 judges.--Jason
Thanks Jason, for clarifying. It’s encouraging to realize there are many competent and conscientious judges still doing their work in the federal judiciary. Democracy MAY survive the onslaught of Trumpian arrogance and incompetence. Also .. the more rulings there are against deportation travesties, overreach and unlawful exercise of presidential authority, etc the more difficult it will be for the SCOTUS to grant #47 any more “freebies”. One can only hope!
Way too late. Such is political (and MNSHO), moral malpractice not to mention stupid and potentially fatal politically. We now see that the danger wasn’t only political or merely hypothetical. Those idiots completely discounted the successes of the movement to pack the courts by the fanatics on the right (it was obvious that most of right supported it).
#1 on the Democratic list of TODO if we win back control is the Pack the Court with 4 new progressive members and UNDO the stare decisis BS Roberts court.
As a man with three decades of trial experience, I can say that I rejected Hundreds of cases. However, when picking a jury, it is a common opening gambit for defense lawyers to say “[a]nyone can file a lawsuit for anything. Would you agree that that doesn’t mean all of the lawsuits are meritorious.” It’s a tactic that has been effective in introducing the idea that the case they’re going to hear about is frivolous. It’s easy to overcome if you have some experience and common sense. As you are seeing in these federal cases, truly frivolous cases are most often dismissed long before they get to trial.
Unfortunately, though, it can be a tremendous waste of judicial resources and of course a waste of money.
I hope more judges take a page from the judge’s statement. I don’t know if lower courts can refuse to hear cases deemed frivolous or not. I hope so. It would save taxpayer money. Trump and his regime feels like our tax dollars are their piggy bank.
They are spending taxpayer $$$ like drunken sailors on leave. The top people in the administration are spending much of the money on themselves, living like royalty while they tell us there's no money for national parks, FEMA, Medicaid, Meals on Wheels, or feeding hungry children. Perhaps when Americans have had enough, we'll have a French-style revolution and take back our country.
I hope in a future Democratic presidency, the DOJ goes after Blondi, Ka$h, Bongino and that so-called Judge Pirro. I want heads rolling and perps in prison.
FDJT may escape prison time due to his age and health, but I'll be damned if his toadies don't face justice.
My hope is that they will. I sure will be making my voice heard in this: Nuremberg style trials need to occur. Everyone complicit needs to be held accountable.
Thank God for judges like this one! Our country is in an embarrassing shambles bc this administration’s tactics are delay, sue, counter sue - in other words, the precise way the orange menace has lived his whole life. The sane citizenry has been screaming “DO something, you who have made all these promises! We want our country back including our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, our freedoms!
I'm glad the judge stated we are in a Constitutional Crisis. Now, if the SCOTUS would do the job and not kiss the felon's ass, that would be wonderful. Roberts should be impeached.
His comments are spot on. This is not an "administration," it's a "kakistocracy" (government by the worst people). Where they find the lawyers they're hiring at DOJ is beyond me. Oral Roberts "University" Law School?
Unfortunately, this is ALL A Moot POINT!!! Like the Honorable Judge Farriqui said, “ people who look like Mr. Dana, be afraid, be very afraid!” I’m paraphrasing but the damages are ALREADY HAPPENING, and WE (The United States of America) are ALREADY into the next phase!!! Be Afraid AND EVERYONE…fight back now!!! Because, when we do wake up and start fighting back…I agree it’ll ONLY get much, much worse with each second we waste!!! Let’s rise up together!!! For Freedom!!!
Trump is using his occupation of Democratic cities to look rough and tough! He cares little about the legality of these occupations, and ensuing arrests. It is all about looking powerful and making us feel helpless. Without the courts this country would be in a total dictatorship!
I fully support and agree w/ his comments. I wish they were harsher. trmp and his DOJ are not only ruining peoples' lives, but are wasting the court's time and our $$.
Written complaints are mostly ignored. Call. Speak to a staffer. Get upset. Tell them you are organizing your neighborhood. Leave a voicemail if the call isn’t connected. The more calls a legislator gets, the more likely she or he will do what you want.
Can the defendants sue the Trump Administration or the DOJ/ICE for being wrongly accused? Causing undue pain and suffering, loss of income from being locked up, etc?
Thanks for calling out these frivolous lawsuits, wasting the courts time when they should be focusing on more serious matters like the criminal at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!
Thank you to the Judge for using his position to speak the truth about a horrendous situation that the Trump Admin is using to punish the Democrat run cities and people of color.
Thankful for judges, through them we may have a possibility of saving our democracy!

they are wasting our tax $$$ on these bs cases 😡
An everyday American cannot file a 'frivolous' lawsuit. That's all these terrorists do.

I would love to know how much all of the litigation has cost the taxpayers
Right! And aren’t they the ones constantly screaming about waste, fraud, and abuse? It seems to me like this fits that bill exactly.

Yes, lower courts can dismiss frivolous lawsuits.
This man is worthy of higher post. He is a judge of honor, ethics, and courage.

Professor Reich said in Substack article a while back we should stop referring to him as our president as well.
The Praying Hands of Justice. Oral Roberts U is surreal.

Write your Congress person Impeach Trump
Mine is a useless Maga, but I still email him regularly on a variety of topics, and I always end with the need to impeach Dump.
