Jared Golden, proving once again that he sucks the most. He’s my Rep and I stopped even reading his replies to my emails because they’re all snarky and full of bullshit republican talking points. He has aspirations for higher office, and I say: over my dead body. I will spend every last dollar I have and every last breath making sure that asshole doesn’t ever hold office representing Maine again.

I’ve literally been working to get rid of her for the last 20 years. Mainers are not dumb but she is such a master manipulator she has been able to fool too many up here. She has figured out how to masterfully manipulate the system so she can vote No only when it doesn’t matter, giving her cover to say “see, I voted against this because it was best for Maine.” She is best friends with Leonard Leo, and accepts all sorts of dark money, but manages to evade most negative publicity. I despise her.

Here’s the dilemma. I also contributed to Golden’s first Congressional run when we had a second home in Maine. Although I couldn’t vote there, I realized Golden was the lesser of two evils. That district comprises “ the County”, a majority of whom feel they have been persecuted by life. They are Trumpers. In order to be reelected, Golden or any Democrat has to straddle the middle. You may like to defeat him, but he’s still an other Democrat to be counted for the Democrats to take control of the House. We can’t investigate Trump without that control.

I’m fully aware of what CD2 looks like and who makes up that demographic. I grew up here and live here full time. I’m also very engaged in the community at large, and in state and local politics. CD2 is becoming more purple with every election, small and large. Having a Dem in name only does us no good if we can’t count on him to vote with his party. Being able to count a body in the chamber is only useful if that body is one that is aligned mostly with their party’s ideals. I also fully understand the argument of having to try to straddle the fence if you’re a D in a mostly R district. But having the numbers only works for the control you refer to if we can count on that person to vote with the party. Otherwise it is a meaningless number and we don’t actually have any control. Because it’s the vote that counts and if a D votes with his R colleagues 50% of the time (Golden is ranked 3rd most right leaning Dem in the House) what control exactly would we have as the majority party? The blue seats on a chart mean nothing. If we are to learn anything from the 2 Trump administrations so far it’s that a single vote can make a difference, and even leadership can’t always rein in their members who choose to cross the line - on either side. Golden’s votes don’t match the ideals of the party that supported/financed him and he seems to not take seriously the moment we are in or the task at hand.

If CD 2 is turning purple, it’s doing it very slowly. Trump won it by 10% of the vote in 2024. If the Democrats don’t win the House in the midterms, we’ll loose our democracy.

This is a smart tactical vote. The bill was passing regardless so his vote had no impact. By voting with Rs on bills where his vote doesn’t matter, he drives up the percentage of the time that he “votes with Trump”, allowing him to look bipartisan back home. You gotta take those votes where you can if you’re trying to hold an R+10 seat

Maine is a great state, although a bit isolated. The people there are independent thinkers. They can certainly do better than Collins for sure, and maybe also Golden. We need Maine to help keep America from falling into a permanent fascist regime.

Personally don't know much about Rep Golden. Being from the New England area, I do know there are areas of Maine that are quite conservative. So, he likely plays that game of trying to appear to his constituents that his politics are more to the center than liberal, especially when his vote is not going to being the deciding vote either way. Effective strategy that helps people like Golden in power in Republican districts. But, IMO - we don't need more games in government - we need strong leaders who are afraid to do their job in voting for what right for the people, and explaining their vote to angry constituents who may not understand how your vote benefits them.

It is a tactical fascist Republican move to make it appear to an uninformed, uneducated, even uninterested public that all is normal - Medicaid is saved - until one day before the very end of the continuing resolution (the Republicans on Trump’s order passed a vote to keep the government open for a limited period of time) when the Republicans will call for a vote again. This time the Democrats will All vote to close the government down rather than agree to a fictional negotiation to save Medicaid. Trump will negate any negotiated terms regarding g Medicaid and will reverse the agreement in a minute flat. The corrupted Republicans will hope the public’s outrage then will be directed at the Democrats because it would appear - appear - that the Democrats didn’t care about our Medicaid being cut and therefore voted No to the negotiation, saying: Shut the Government Down. This is a sleight of hand bullshit move by Trump’s Republican slaves. This is evil, evil stuff.

The only good thing is that it gives every single Democrat time to get the hell out of their offices and into communities to tell town halls across the country the Truth.

At last the Dems in Congress are taking a much needed stand! People are recognizing that part of MAGA’s ugly plan has to do with culling the population. Lack of health care for those who can’t afford the high prices of medical insurance is just one way. Deportation being another. The Democrats and any Republicans with a backbone must bring back the affordable healthcare system.

For what seems like years I’ve been screaming and banging n my head against the wall whenever I hear people say “We’ll vote them out in 2026!” Some kind of weird mantra proving they have not been able to understand that canceling “free and fair” elections was a core tenet of P2025, not verbatim, but anyone paying attention to, say, Marc Elias, understands this should be the biggest battle instead of the distractions. Even the Epstein thing is rooted in the fantasy that it could bring them down, this will not happen either. Look at the actions they’re saving their powder for until after the midterms. “Hello?”

Agreed, plus, all of the big changes Trump is making to the White House are NOT the actions of a man planning on moving out when his term is over. Destroying the historic Rose Garden, building a totally unneeded gaudy ballroom, and refurbishing his golden, flying palace in the sky to use as Air Force One are clear indications of Trump's plans. He never does anything unless it's for himself.

Hi Harry, Yes, I understand that the Republicans are already looking at ways to cheat, so I respect your concern for the critical midterm elections. My comment to you was simply meant to say that people need to hear messages of hope right now, not discouraging words that knock at the human spirit. 🫶

The Democrats have intelligent, dedicated attorneys, like Marc Elias Group, who are working on all legal issues related to elections/voting. Elias has been winning against the GOP's election related corruption since Trump's 1st term and he is more committed than ever in having in free & fair elections. So, to me - there is much HOPE that midterms will indeed be held in 2026. 🇺🇸

A shutdown is almost inevitable. I fear, however, this one will set a new record. Trump doesn't give a flying fuck how many people are hurt as the result of the shutdown. Most members of the military will get their monthly pay. But because the U. S. Coast Guard comes under the auspices of Homeland Security, their pay will be suspended until the shutdown ends. It will be devastating for many, if not most of them.

The infrastructure of the government will slowly begin to crumble. Air traffic controllers were pretty much responsible for ending the last one. It may take something short of a miracle to end this next one.

The path to fascism and dictatorship becomes clearer by the day. This isn’t only a shocking descent into political hades, it’s planned and orchestrated by DJT and his minions - Carr of the FCC the most recent blatant example of censorship. Perhaps most horrendous of all is the near total violation of the US Constitution at every turn. As a Canadian who studied for years at Notre Dame IN, I have great respect for what the great republic CAN be. At this critical ‘moment in time’ for American democracy, I hope that every Democratic member of the US Senate and House uses their unique pulpits to proclaim “from the rooftops” the peril to individual liberties, freedom of expression, the right to basic healthcare for ALL (not simply the ultra wealthy) etc etc. The list is long! Americans of good faith must NOT assume that Democrat supporters will automatically show up for the mid-terms. That would be a disastrous and massive error. Instead, the drive to “get out the vote” must begin now. Then - when November 2026 arrives - you will be fully prepared to end the “madness of King Donald”. I wish you all well. Eternal vigilance … and hard work .. will triumph. We shall overcome!
