Latest Fox News Poll Shows Hillary Clinton Leading Donald Trump By Six Points

Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by six points in a head-to-head match-up, according to the latest Fox News poll released on Wednesday.

The survey’s results aren’t that different from the 10-point advantage Clinton had over Trump in a Fox poll taken earlier in August, but they do suggest a slight shift toward the Republican nominee with convention season behind us and Trump making a concerted effort to at least pretend to be an adult until Nov. 8.

When third-party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are included in the results, the numbers tighten and give Clinton just a two-point advantage over Trump – a sign that this election is not in the bag for Clinton, and Democrats must not become complacent.

On the much-discussed topic of Hillary Clinton’s email use, a clear majority of voters – 52 percent – say that the former Secretary of State used a personal email account and a home-based server simply for convenience. Only 44 percent say Clinton’s email setup was intentionally done to allow her to “hide things.”

Clearly, the Republican effort to paint Clinton’s email use as a huge scandal has been a massive failure.

On Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns, nearly two-thirds of voters say the reason he won’t disclose the documents is because he has something to hide. Perhaps he hasn’t actually paid taxes in many years, or maybe doesn’t give a dime to charity? We’ll likely never know.

The poll also shows that about half of voters think that it’s fair to call Trump a racist, while nearly 70 percent think calling Clinton a bigot, as Trump has, is an unfair charge.

An interesting piece of data deep in the poll is that more voters claim to have attended a Clinton rally (5 percent) than a Trump rally (2 percent), despite Trump’s constant emphasis on the number of people that turn out for his events.

Ultimately, the Fox poll does appear to show a race that has tightened slightly, but Clinton still leads Trump nationally by an average of six points.
