Honeymoon Over: Even Republicans Think Trump Should Spend Less Time at Mar-a-Lago

Democrats are not the only ones complaining about the amount of time Donald Trump is spending at his so-called “Winter White House,” Mar-a-Lago.

According to Joni Ernst, speaking at her Wall Lake, Iowa town hall, not just her but other Republicans think Trump should spend more time in the White House and less in Florida:

“I do wish he would spend more time in Washington, DC. That’s what we have the White House for, we would love to see more of those State Department visits in Washington, DC. I think it’s smart that he does business in Washington DC, so I’ve had those same concerns myself.”

Ernst went on to add that,

“I have not spoken to him about the Florida issue yet, but that is something I think that has been bothering not just me, but some other members of our caucus. So I think that is going to be a topic of discussion that we have when we get back to Washington.”

We have already seen how Joni Ernst admitted during her town hall that “Trump has a number of flaws.” Those flaws are obviously character flaws. We can add to that his failure to attend to his duties as any reasonable person – Republican or Democrat – would expect.

Ernst, of course, isn’t going to call out Trump’s hypocrisy in condemning President Obama’s vacations while setting a pace to spend more in a single year than Obama did in eight, but it is clear Republicans are having their feathers ruffled by their president.

When they not only have trouble finding nice things to say about Trump but start to give voice to their disappointment, it’s a sure sign the Trump honeymoon is coming to an end after just 100 days.
