House Intelligence Committee ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) pointed to a canceled Trump speech during the campaign that was supposed to be about Clinton at around the time Trump Jr. was meeting with Russians as a possible indication that Trump knew about Russia collusion.

What I take away from his discussion with you is two things. Two points he wants to make. First, the President didn’t know, and second, even if he did, there’s no crime here. Now, to believe that though we have to rely on two things. We have to rely on Don Jr.’s representation of what happened in that meeting, and we’ve already seen many times, of course, we can’t rely on that because first, he said no such meeting ever happened, and then he said the meeting was about adoptions, and then he admitted that the meeting was about getting information on Hillary Clinton, and then he wasn’t forthcoming about who was in the meeting, so we can’t accept anything Don Jr. says, and of course, we can’t accept much that the President says about this either because he has a similar record of not being forthcoming when it comes to Russia.
And indeed, if you look at the President’s statements around this time, he announces a speech he’s going to give where he is going to give the dirt on Hillary Clinton that he then cancels. Now that would corroborate that Don Jr. didn’t get the information he was hoping for, but of course, it contradicts the idea that he was unaware.
The same day that Trump Jr. met with the Russians, Trump promised a speech with the dirt on Hillary Clinton.
Trump said, “I think you’re going to find it very informative and very very interesting. We are going to be discussing all of the things that have taken place with the Clintons.”
That speech was subsequently canceled.
Trump Jr.’s Russia emails were the keys that opened up quite a few doors. It is now possible to look at Trump and his campaign’s behavior and piece together what was really going on behind the scenes.
It is taking some time, but the investigators are putting the pieces together of a puzzle that could bring down Trump.
