Col. Lawerence Wilkerson, Colin Powell’s former chief of staff, took apart Trump and made the President seem way out his league by pointing out that Trump seems to think dealing with N. Korea is like negotiating a casino deal.

Col. Wilkerson said on MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes, “People say we can’t talk with a criminal regime. Those are the regimes you need to talk to. John Kennedy said it best. ‘never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate. Tillerson has said that, more or less, as has Mattis. We need to get to it, and we need to curb this president who seems to think he’s negotiating the Taj Mahal or some other casino with Steve Wynn.”
Wilkerson was right on the money. Only a fool would handle a life or death diplomatic crisis by making reckless threats about military escalation. Unfortunately, for the people of the United States and the rest of the world, the man occupying the White House has offered no proof that he is anything less than a blustering fool who is trying to bluff his way through the presidency. The difference between Trump’s latest N. Korea statement and his other remarks is that the President has the potential to launch a war with his comments.
Institutions are trying to check Trump, but more must be done. Trump’s Secretaries of State and Defense must step up and get the situation under control. If Republicans sit back and enable Trump, they will be setting the United States up for a war the likes of which hasn’t been seen since the 1960s.
