Elizabeth Warren Has a Huge Machine Ready to Go for a 2020 Campaign

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) reportedly has quietly put together a formidable presidential election campaign machine for 2020.

POLITICO reported Monday that Warren has personally contacted at least  100 key people in early presidential states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. She has is also looking for a campaign headquarters space in Boston.

These moves are just a few of several that indicate Warren is getting ready to launch a White House bid.

According to POLITICO:

“Warren has the core of her 2020 team in place if she runs for president. She has the seed money — there’s $12.5 million ready to go, left over from her recent Senate run — and a massive email list she’s amassed over years, boosted by a $3.3 million investment in digital infrastructure and advertising in the last election alone. Her aides have been quietly shopping for presidential campaign headquarters space in the Boston area in recent weeks.”

And although Warren has put together a campaign staff of more than 50 people, including field workers, she has yet to formally commit to whether she will run for president.

She is widely considered a viable candidate among many others in what will be a very crowded Democratic primary field.

The Boston Globe, Warren’s hometown newspaper, wrote in an editorial piece last week that the senator’s time to run for president had passed, calling her a “divisive figure” and implying that she would not be the strongest candidate in 2020.

“While Warren is an effective and impactful senator with an important voice nationally, she has become a divisive figure,” the paper’s editorial board wrote. “A unifying voice is what the country needs now after the polarizing politics of Donald Trump.”

Even though she has detractors, polls have consistently shown her and Joe Biden as the top favorites among likely Democratic primary voters. In addition, there have been reports that many supporters of 2016 candidate Hillary Clinton will be backing Warren in 2020.

After being mocked by Donald Trump, who called her Pocahontas, Warren in October released the results of a DNA test which proved that she has Native American ancestry.

Warren has many supporters due to her support for consumers, and her attacks on corruption in Washington, especially among the Trump administration.

In March, Warren appeared on the NBC show “Meet the Press” and told host Chuck Todd that she would not be running for president in 2020.

Of course politicians can change their minds, and often do. If Elizabeth Warren does change her mind, and does decide to make a run for the presidency in 2020, she already has a massive campaign infrastructure in place. All that’s needed now is for her to make a decision.
