Donald Trump is quickly becoming a laughingstock in Iowa following his claim that noise from windmills causes cancer.

Iowa’s Republican Sen. Joni Ernst shot down the president’s claim on Thursday, calling it “ridiculous.”
“I have church bells that ring across from my office here in D.C.,” she said, according to an NBC News affiliate. “I know that noise doesn’t give me cancer, otherwise I’m sure I’d have church bell cancer.”
Trump made the bizarre claim earlier this week, adding that “if you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations. Your house just went down 75 percent in value.”
During a recent rally in Michigan, Trump claimed that wind energy only works when it’s windy outside.
“If it doesn’t blow, you can forget about television for that night,” said the ignorant president.
Iowa’s other GOP senator, Chuck Grassley, also lambasted Trump for his ignorance on alternative forms of energy, calling the suggestion that wind turbines cause cancer “idiotic.”
“I wish his staff would tell him I’m the father and now the grandfather of wind energy tax credits,” Grassley said, according to Politico. “I don’t think he knows it, or I don’t think he’d make those comments that aren’t quite appropriate.”
To make matters worse for Trump, Iowa’s Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds and business leaders in the state announced Thursday – two days after the president’s comments – that they plan to further expand wind energy in the state.
The majority of the country has long thought Donald Trump is unfit to be president. He has no grasp of the issues – something he seems proud of – and he has repeatedly demonstrated that he is temperamentally unstable.
But it should give the president pause that even Republican leaders in Iowa – a state he carried by 10 points in 2016 – are speaking out against his ignorance.
