Trump’s trade has become a president made disaster for red states as Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) said South Dakota had lost $500 million

Axios reported, “Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) told Axios’ Mike Allen on Thursday that President Trump’s trade war with China has caused the price of his state’s soybeans to plummet 20%, costing South Dakota half a billion dollars. Data show America’s farmers have gone through significant economic pain as a result of the ongoing U.S.-China trade war. Republican lawmaker who represent rural parts of the nation have been divided in whether to continue supporting the Trump administration’s efforts, even as they take a toll on their constituents.”
Rounds warned that the support for Trump’s trade is not infinite, or as he put it, there is an end to the rope. Republicans are toeing the party line and still expressing the belief that Trump can “beat” China on trade, but the senator’s comments suggest that if the trade war continues to drag on and imperil the political futures of elected Republicans, they will abandon ship on this president.
Republicans aren’t going to go down with the sinking Trump trade war ship.
Red states are being devastated by Trump’s false belief that foreign countries, not US businesses and consumers pay for tariffs.
Trump is a one-person economic disaster, and he is taking out some of his staunchest supporters.
