Nancy Pelosi Responds To Trump’s Impeachment Tantrum By Calling Him A Traitor

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi punched back on Tuesday after Donald Trump sent her a letter on the impeachment inquiry that read like it was written by an irritable toddler.

In a statement, the House Speaker said the White House’s stonewalling on impeachment “is only the latest attempt to cover up [Trump’s] betrayal of our democracy, and to insist that the President is above the law.”

Pelosi said no amount of whining from this sinking ship of a White House will throw House Democrats off track in their impeachment inquiry, especially as a “growing body of evidence shows that President Trump abused his office and violated his oath.”

In other words, Trump betrayed America, and the Speaker of the House has no intention of letting him get away with it.

Pelosi’s full statement:

For a while, the President has tried to normalize lawlessness. Now, he is trying to make lawlessness a virtue. The American people have already heard the President’s own words – ‘do us a favor, though.’ The President’s actions threaten our national security, violate our Constitution and undermine the integrity of our elections. The White House letter is only the latest attempt to cover up his betrayal of our democracy, and to insist that the President is above the law.

This letter is manifestly wrong, and is simply another unlawful attempt to hide the facts of the Trump Administration’s brazen efforts to pressure foreign powers to intervene in the 2020 elections. Despite the White House’s stonewalling, we see a growing body of evidence that shows that President Trump abused his office and violated his oath to ‘protect, preserve and defend the Constitution.’

The White House should be warned that continued efforts to hide the truth of the President’s abuse of power from the American people will be regarded as further evidence of obstruction.

Mr. President, you are not above the law. You will be held accountable.

Trump’s refusal to cooperate only bolsters the case for impeachment

Donald Trump – not the sharpest tool in the shed – seems to believe that obstructing the House impeachment inquiry is his smartest defense strategy.

But refusing to cooperate with Congress as they exercise their constitutionally granted impeachment power only bolsters the case for impeachment. It shows that this president knows he’s guilty and doesn’t want any further incriminating evidence to be uncovered.

Ultimately, Donald Trump isn’t happy about how this impeachment probe is playing out. The White House made that clear in their letter on Tuesday.

Perhaps he should have thought of that before he betrayed his country.
