Bernie Sanders Takes Down Trump and Takes Back Neil Young’s Song From The Billionaire Thief

Bernie Sanders took down Donald Trump and took back Rockin’ In The Free World by using the song with Neil Young’s permission at his rally in Denver.

In a statement about the Denver rally, the Sanders campaign not so subtlety noted, “This is an extraordinary turnout,” Sanders said as he surveyed the crowd after climbing onto the Hamilton Gymnasium stage at the University of Denver. Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” played (with the singer/songwriter manager’s approval) as Sanders was introduced to the standing-room-only crowd that spilled into an atrium and a nearby lacrosse field outside.”

Donald Trump stole Neil Young’s Rockin’ In The Free World by using at his presidential campaign announcement without the artist’s permission. Young responded by making it abundantly clear that Trump did not have permission to use his song, and that he supports Bernie Sanders. Trump responded by claiming that he had paid for permission to use the song, and basically called Neil Young a liar, but he also said that he would not be using the song again.

Bernie Sanders not only took down Trump by using the song. He also took the song back from the billionaire who tried to steal it. Rockin’ In The Free World is a criticism of Republican policies, and the lyrics fit much better with Bernie Sanders than they ever would with any Republican.

Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are complete opposites. Bernie Sanders is running a campaign that is about giving voice and power back to the people. Trump is running because he is, “really, really rich.” Bernie Sanders is generating overflow crowds for each of his rallies. Donald Trump had to pay actors to come to his rally and cheer for him. Bernie Sanders is a serious public servant who has spent decades fighting for ordinary Americans. Donald Trump is a reality TV buffoon who is most famous for saying “You’re fired.”

Sen. Sanders is fighting to lead a revolution against the billionaire takeover of the electoral system and government, and the Donald Trumps of the world are exactly what Sanders is running against. The theft of Neil Young’s song was symptomatic of the idea that the wealthiest Americans can take whatever they want, but Bernie Sanders is leading the popular charge to take the country back.
