Hillary Clinton Shuts Down Trump For Not Naming Any Female Cabinet Choices

Besides daughter Ivanka, Donald Trump couldn’t name a single woman he was considering for cabinet positions should he – gulp – become president next year.

“Well, we have so many different ones to choose,” Trump told First Coast News in Florida, according to a Buzzfeed report.

Of course, Trump didn’t name any of the “many” supposedly on his list.

The Republican nominee said:

Well, we have so many different ones to choose. I can tell you everybody would say, “Put Ivanka in, put Ivanka in,” you know that, right? She’s very popular, she’s done very well, and you know Ivanka very well. But there really are so many that are really talented people — like you, you’re so talented, but I don’t know if your viewers know that.

In less than 140 characters, the Clinton campaign was ready with a response that compared Trump’s current search for female cabinet members to Mitt Romney’s in 2012. She also put the focus on the ongoing civil war between Trump and top GOP officials.

Clinton is referring to a comment Romney made at a 2012 presidential debate when he tried to explain his strategy for choosing cabinet members.

“We took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our cabinet,” Romney said four years ago. “I went to a number of women’s groups and said, ‘Can you help us find folks,’ and they brought us whole binders full of women.”

Those binders may be helpful to Trump these days, but as Hillary Clinton tweeted, it’s unlikely that the former Massachusetts governor would even answer Trump’s call.
