Donald Trump Chooses South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador

And the swamp keeps on a-fillin’. President-Elect Donald Trump has picked South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to be his ambassador to the United Nations according to the Presidential Transition Team.

According to the PTT statement this morning,

Governor Haley is one of the most universally respected governors in the country. After working at her family’s business, Governor Haley turned her focus to economic development and has traveled abroad to negotiate with international companies on behalf of South Carolina. As governor, she has led seven overseas trade missions and successfully attracted jobs and investment through negotiations with foreign companies.
 
“Governor Haley has a proven track record of bringing people together regardless of background or party affiliation to move critical policies forward for the betterment of her state and our country,” said President-elect Trump. “She is also a proven dealmaker, and we look to be making plenty of deals. She will be a great leader representing us on the world stage.”

Nikki Haley accepted the nomination, saying,

“Our country faces enormous challenges here at home and internationally, and I am honored that the President-elect has asked me to join his team and serve the country we love as the next Ambassador to the United Nations.”

Like so many other Republicans, Haley was a critic of Trump and supported Marco Rubio, whom Trump denigrated as “Little Marco” back in March at the GOP debate. That may have cost her the VP nomination but her consolation prize leaves former UN ambassador John Bolton out in the cold, and that’s not a bad thing.

Bolton thinks another CIA-backed coup in Iran will fix things after the CIA-backed coup in 1953 screwed things up for the past half-century and then some. And even though he was wrong about Iraq WMDs he assures us we can trust him on Iran nukes.

So yes. Before you complain about Haley, it could be worse.

The choice is interesting because Nikki Haley had criticized Trump for “irresponsible talk” about immigrants, as well as for not condemning the KKK, which later endorsed Trump. Trump still has failed to condemn the KKK or the white supremacists giving him the Hitler salute at a recent gathering.

And who will ever forget the big ole Southern “Bless your heart” she gave Trump after a Trump temper tantrum that claimed South Carolinians were embarrassed by their governor?

Not surprisingly, Trump supporters mocked Haley for her Indian heritage, because they can’t talk issues when the facts don’t support them. Because it’s okay to be from Germany, like Trump’s grandfather, but not India, like Haley’s parents.

Ann Coulter, to no one’s surprise, led the cheering section by calling her an “ignorant immigrant” even though Haley, like Coulter, was born in the US of A.

Newt Gingrich says “”I think she will be very effective.” But then, Newt also likes Sessions. And as satirist Aiden Wolfe commented :

There is another method to Trump’s madness, of course. If Haley becomes UN Ambassador, a Trump ally, Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster, will replace her.
