Trump’s Cruelty Exposed As He Denied Red State Request To Stabilize Health Insurance Market

Despite Donald Trump’s promise to create a “beautiful” healthcare system for all Americans, a new report shows that he’s using the federal government to do just the opposite.

According to The Washington Post, Trump denied a request from GOP-controlled Iowa to stabilize the state’s “ailing” health insurance markets.

For months, officials in Republican-controlled Iowa had sought federal permission to revitalize their ailing health-insurance marketplace. Then President Trump read about the request in a newspaper story and called the federal director weighing the application.

Trump’s message was clear, according to individuals who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations: Tell Iowa no.

Trump’s refusal to take action that would actually help people is proof of what we’ve already known about this president and his administration: They would rather play political games than improve the lives of the American people.

Since taking office, the president has repeatedly taken steps to undermine the health care law.

As The Washington Post noted, “In addition to trying to cut funding for the ACA, the Trump administration also is hampering state efforts to control premiums.”

The report added: “And with the fifth enrollment season set to begin Nov. 1, advocates say the Health and Human Services Department has done more to suppress the number of people signing up than to boost it.”

With each passing day – after each troubling decision by this White House – it becomes increasingly clear what the central rationale is to Trump’s presidency: to dismantle anything that Barack Obama did.

Even if that means hurting the Americans he promised to help during the campaign.
