One thing you have to say about Michael Avenatti: he is a fighter. Whenever somebody attacks him — whether on TV or on Twitter or elsewhere — he immediately attacks back. He did this just today with the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa.

After Grassley lambasted Avenatti as a “lawyer for the porn world” Avenatti said the Iowa senator was “far too stupid” for his position as Judiciary Committee chairman. He also made an obscure reference to Betamax tapes, which was a direct hit at the age of Grassley and his octogenarian colleagues on the Judiciary Committee.
“.@ChuckGrassley claimed last night that I have “established a reputation as a lawyer for the porn world.” This shows how ignorant and out of touch with reality he is. Far too stupid to lead such an important cmte. Meanwhile, he and his colleagues reach for their Betamax tapes…”
Avenatti is not holding punches here. He always says his motto is “when they go low, we fight harder.” He is right that Grassley and the other old white men who are making decisions for all of America are “out of touch with reality.” And this does not bode well for the future of the Republican Party. The only question is whether American can hold on long enough to survive the rule of these Republicans who should have retired from public life long ago.
Avenatti was responding to comments Grassley made Tuesday night on the Fox show “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”
Grassley was asked during the interview about Avenatti’s release of a sworn affidavit from his client, Julie Swetnick, accusing Kavanaugh of gang rape.
“I think with Avenatti’s reputation that he has established as a lawyer for the porn world, that that raised questions about the legitimacy of Swetnick,” Grassley responded.
Grassley, like many others, has been putting down Avenatti due to his representation of Stormy Daniels in her lawsuits against President Trump. As one of America’s top trial attorneys, he bristles at being called a “porn lawyer.”
Grassley said to MacCallum that “all sexual assault allegations” should be taken seriously and said the #MeToo movement “has brought to the surface something that we ought to be talking about and be more cognizant of.”
“But when you have that combination, it didn’t bring the credibility that ought to be brought,” he said of Avenatti.
In her sworn affidavit, Swetnick alleged that Kavanaugh was part of a scheme to gang rape girls at house parties while in high school.
Swetnick said Sunday in a statement released by Avenatti that she is “disgusted and appalled by the way that I have been re-victimized over the last 2 weeks after I had the courage to come forward.”
“Below please find a statement from my client Julie Swetnick regarding the Kavanaugh nomination. I urge you to read it.”
Clearly the Kavanaugh confirmation fight is not really over. Not only will it be continued by Democrats in Congress, it will also be continued by Avenatti and other lawyers in courts of law.
Michael Avenatti may never be president, but there is no question that he will be a continual thorn in the side of Donald Trump, Brett Kavanaugh, and other Republicans.
