Trump Begs Democrats To Bail Him Out Of His Trade Disaster

As Donald Trump embarrassed himself – yet again – during his trade stunt with Mexico, he is now looking to the Democrats to fix his mess.

In a Saturday morning tweet, the president begged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats to approve the new trade deal between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

“Nervous Nancy Pelosi & the Democrat House are getting nothing done,” Trump said, using his juvenile new nickname for the woman that has repeatedly outsmarted him.

“Perhaps they could lead the way with the USMCA, the spectacular & very popular new Trade Deal that replaces NAFTA,” Trump added.

While Trump brags that he somehow reached a beautiful deal with Mexico to avoid tariffs and stop the flow is migrants to the southern border, nothing has changed but the tone of his tweets.

As PoliticusUSA’s Jason Easley noted on Friday, “Trump needed a way to look like he was winning while backing down.”

While Trump embarrasses himself, House Democrats are getting things done

While Trump’s presidency is just a string of tough-talking tweets and empty promises, Democrats have actually been able to pass important legislation since they took control of the House.

Last week, Democrats made history and passed legislation to give permanent protections to Dreamers, TPS, and DED holders. Some Republicans even signed onto that legislation.

Over the past few months, Democrats have passed the Equality Act, sweeping election reform and major gun control legislation.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been president for two and a half years, and his major accomplishment has been to weaken democratic institutions, ignore the rule of law, repeatedly embarrass the country on the world stage and cut taxes for rich folks.

If Trump wants to learn how to get things done, he shouldn’t take shots at Nancy Pelosi. He should take notes from her.
