Joe Biden Demands That TV Networks Stop Giving Giuliani Airtime

Joe Biden’s advisers wrote ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and Fox News to demand that they stop giving Rudy Giuliani airtime to push baseless conspiracy theories.

The New York Times reported:

“We are writing today with grave concern that you continue to book Rudy Giuliani on your air to spread false, debunked conspiracy theories on behalf of Donald Trump,” a pair of top Biden campaign advisers, Anita Dunn and Kate Bedingfield, wrote in the letter.

“Giving Rudy Giuliani valuable time on your air to push these lies in the first place is a disservice to your audience and a disservice to journalism,” the advisers wrote. A copy of the letter was obtained by The New York Times.

The Biden campaign argued that Mr. Giuliani’s appearances on television have allowed him to mislead the viewing public.

The counterpoint to the Biden campaign is that Rudy Guiliani has provided Democrats with impeachment evidence during his television interviews. This is a strong stand that has been taken by Biden’s campaign. Their message is that this isn’t 2016, and they are holding the media accountable for giving Giuliani time to sell conspiracy theories to the American people.

There is a way for journalists to give Rudy Giuliani enough rope to hang himself while not allowing him to spread conspiracy theories. It involves something that isn’t seen often enough, especially on the Sunday shows. The networks should be fact-checking their guests in real-time.

The Biden team is watching, and they are demanding better out of journalists than giving unquestioned airtime to Trump’s mob lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
