Trump’s Bad Day Gets Worse As The Senate Wants To Talk To Ukraine Whistleblower

The bad news keeps coming for President Trump after he begged Ukraine to help him win the next election.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry this afternoon at 5 PM. And now, the Senate wants a piece of the whistleblower’s report Trump tried to bury.

The Senate approved a resolution calling on the Ukraine whistleblower complaint to be submitted to the Senate and House of Representatives intelligence committees, as is required by law.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer told Republicans, “I cannot imagine any legitimate or straight-faced reason” to object, other than “to protect the president from accountability.”

Michael Isikoff of Yahoo News announced that the Senate Intelligence Committee is conducting its own inquiry into Trump’s Ukraine Gate, and wants to interview the whistleblower no later than Friday, September 27, 2019.

Also, the interview will be bipartisan.

“(T)he Senate Intelligence Committee is conducting its own inquiry and is seeking an interview with the whistleblower who filed the initial complaint with the intelligence community’s inspector general, according to a letter obtained by Yahoo News,” Isikoff explained.

The letter is signed by committee chair Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA).

The letter is shown below in the Chief investigative correspondent for Yahoo News’ tweet:

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff announced earlier this afternoon, but after the letter was sent according to Isikoff, that the intelligence staffer whistleblower would like to speak to the House this week and is seeking guidance to make that happen. Schiff wrote that the whistleblower’s attorney is talking with the acting Director of National Intelligence about how to proceed.

After Trump begrudgingly said he would release the transcript of the phone call (which should have never been hidden in the first place, and is just one of many calls to foreign leaders that we no longer receive readouts on), Senator Chuck Schumer said Congress needs the entire complaint from the whistleblower, noting that without the entire complaint, lawmakers won’t know what the intelligence community inspector general thought was so urgent.

Trump confirmed on Tuesday he had withheld nearly $400 million in U.S. aid to Ukraine but denied accusations he did so to leverage Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to initiate an investigation that would damage Democratic political rival Joe Biden.

Russia is laughing at Trump for pressuring Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election to help him, the House will be investigating Trump’s criminal attacks on this country in a formal impeachment inquiry, and now the Senate wants a piece of Trump.

All of this is happening because Trump can’t win elections without cheating and Republicans have been perfectly fine knowing that Trump worked with an enemy of the United States in order to “win” 2016.
