Rudy Giuliani has many things in common with his boss Donald Trump. They are both loud-mouthed New Yorkers, for example. And another thing is for sure: they both know how to dominate a news cycle.
Since Rudy spoke with Trump adviser Sean Hannity on Wednesday night the political media has not stopped talking about the former New York City mayor. Did he admit on national television that Donald Trump committed multiple felonies? Or did he brilliantly convince the country that there were no violations of election laws involved with the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels?
Regardless, what’s true is that Giuliani is out there talking nonstop and creating controversy with every word.
A case in point is his interview he did with CBS News’ chief White House correspondent Major Garrett. Possibly channeling his boss, he told Garrett that he thinks the Justice Department should close down the Russia investigation.

“I want the Justice Department to close this thing down,” Giuliani told Garrett. “They (special counsel Mueller and team) don’t have a scintilla of evidence that there was collusion with the Russians to influence the election. This is a ridiculous investigation.”
Garrett also asked if there is evidence of a conspiracy with the Russians, and Giuliani said, “I would say none. There was never any kind of agreement between Mr. Trump and the Russians to affect the election.”
Surprisingly, Giuliani also said he thought it might be a good idea for the president to talk to the special counsel because it might wrap up Mueller’s investigation more quickly.
“I’m still open to it if we get the right conditions,” Giuliani said. “There’s no better way to end this. I joined this team with a goal of finishing this damn thing in a month or two. I don’t know if I can do that anymore in good conscience.”
In the interview, the former mayor also defended Trump’s decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey. He said that the president wanted to fire him “on day one.”
“He had every right to fire Comey,” Giuliani said. “Because of Comey’s conduct. He wanted to fire him on day one. He waited.”
It is now clear that Donald Trump hired Rudy Giuliani NOT to be his lawyer but to be his mouthpiece with the press. He is talking nonstop, and he is clearly expressing the president’s points of view and his opinions on all of the many complex legal cases that are confronting him.
As to whether or not the president is being helped or hurt by the newest addition to his legal team, the jury is still out on that.
