Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) pulled no punches on Trump as he characterized the president’s decision as the hypocritical act of a man who places his own personal interests above national security.

MAJOR GARRETT: The president as you well know and as the nation has learned declined to release the memo that you and the staff of the House Intelligence Committee on the Democratic side drafted. The president tweeted about this, as I’m sure you’re also well aware yesterday that we read that for the audience, “The Democrats sent a very political and long response memo which they knew, because of sources and methods (and more) would have to be heavily redacted, whereupon they would blame the White House for lack of transparency. Told them to re-do and send back in proper form!” Congressman was the memo improperly drafted and in bad form?

REP. ADAM SCHIFF: No of course not. And the hypocrisy of this just kind of reaches out and grabs you by the throat. Here the Republicans write a memo which the FBI quite accurately describes as misleading and omitting material facts. The Department of Justice says it would be extraordinarily reckless to release this. And what does the president do. He says I’m going to release it before I even read it 100 percent of it to release it. This is a president who puts his own personal interests above the national security interests of the country. Now they claim when they release the Republican memo that this was in the interest of full transparency and all the White House people were saying full transparency. Well apparently full transparency only goes so far.
Adam Schiff gave Trump a taste of his future
If Democrats take back the House in November, Adam Schiff is going to be man who will be running the House investigation into Donald Trump. When Adam Schiff speaks, he is speaking as the person who might be in charge of the Russia investigation in less than a year. Trump might have been able to obstruct the release of a memo, but soon he might be powerless to stop Schiff and the Russia investigation.
Adam Schiff’s comments gave Trump a taste of his potential future. Trump is about to be defined as a president who puts himself ahead of national security. A fight with Schiff is one that Trump is certain to lose. Rep. Schiff is coming for the truth, and even Trump’s hypocrisy can’t stop him.
