Timeline: How Obama Dug America Out of a Depression

The next time a Republican asks where are the jobs, show them this chart that demonstrates how deep of a hole President Barack Obama has dug us out of.

President Obama would be the first person to admit that there is much more digging to be done, and this is normally the part where Obama supporters insert the typical incumbent don’t change horses in midstream talk, but in this case there really is more at stake than that. In Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, voters are being presented with two starkly different ideologies. The wealth flows to the top mentality of Mitt Romney was already tried by George W. Bush with the result being an economy that transformed from healthy and robust to on life support by the time the Republican left office. Obama has consistently expressed a preference for fiscally prudent programs that encourage job growth and creation.

The Obama presidency has been characterized by rare long term thinking. President Obama wants to change the course of the American economy for decades to come. What we will find out in November is whether voters will reward his ambitious long term thinking with a second term.

What is clear though is that Obama has gotten the country moving in the right direction again. Republicans will continue to argue that the country is falling apart and all is going wrong, but look at the chart. The numbers don’t lie.

Obama’s argument will be that there is lots of room for improvement, and if given four more years, the economy continue to grow. What is clear is that a country on the verge of total collapse was saved by this president. His reelection may hinge on whether or not voters are convinced that he is the man to lead the country into the next phase of recovery.

  1. those who believe Obama has destroyed our economy will not believe a chart on the internet, but they might believe it if the chart is shown on FOX, or in the Wall Street Journal…so share this story, share it everywhere, and maybe if it goes ‘viral’ then even FOX and WSJ will have to report on it, too.

  2. Republicans are blind to facts. Reagan and Bush policies created most of our debt and Obama has been forced to live with the TEMPORARY Bush tax cuts that are estimated to bring in $5 Trillion over the next decade when they expire and getting us out of these costly wars will reduce military spending. Clinton ended a TRIPLING of the debt by REAGAN with reduced military spending and a hike to 41% on taxing the wealthy from the historic low rate Reagan created that sapped our coffers and along with GW returning to those insane policies it only served to create RECORD reserves of cash for the wealthy and corporations.

  3. Reoublicans caused:
    Bush tax cuts 4 trillion
    Bush UnFunded wars 4 trillion
Over bloated archaic military 1 trillion per year
Bailed out banks buying banks while sitting on a trillion
    Wall street casino behavior
    General hate and lies

  4. The number one long term economic item that MUST be accomplished is to repeal the bush and most of the st. raygun, patron saint of idiots, tax cuts for the rich.

Those tax cuts are far more responsible for the corporate takeover of America than Citizens United, which is more a RESULT than a CAUSE.

  5. So what?  Fox News says they're the greatest, and that's good enough for a hundred million drooling idiots.

  6. There is a saying: "You can take the horse to the water, but cant' make it drink the water". . .  So, chart or no chart those who will vote for Republicans or Democrtas are already decided . . . so the election depends on the independents or the swing voters. . . .  the question is whether they understand this chart and what % of them are out of work today.

  7. I was off work today browsing reddit, but I've already seen charts like this. I've been reading more than my fair share. Romney was never really looking very good to me. But I did go independant.
