For the First Time Since 1994 A Majority of Republicans Are Dissatisfied With Their Party

Right when you thought Republicans weren’t very clever, seeing as they are so easily played by the GOP elites, they go and do something that appears remotely cognizant of reality, like disapproving of their party’s leadership.

For the first time in six poll results dating to 1994, a majority (52%) of Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents say their party is going astray, according to a new poll for ABC by Langer Research Associates.

Only 37% of Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents say their leaders are taking the GOP in the right direction. A stunning fifty-two percent say their own leaders are headed the wrong way, “up 20 points from last August (when the White House seemed winnable) and a majority for the first time in six poll results dating to 1994.”

A majority of Republicans are dissatisfied with their party for the first time dating to 1994.

Also, as much as the media likes to hype Democrats/”liberals” (note for the media: “Libertarian liberals” are not representative of Democratic liberals) hating on Obama, according to this poll, Democrats are pretty darn happy with their leadership. In fact, 72% say their Democratic leaders are taking things in the right direction.

Congress might be relieved to hear that they are slightly less hated than they were in March, but no one with a single working brain cell would be proud of being lifted 5% to a mere 21% approval rating. The pollsters call Congress’ low approval rating “still dismal by any measure.”

Just 5% approve strongly of Congress, while 53% strongly disapprove.

And only 21% of Americans surveyed identify as Republican. The numbers of people identifying with both parties have dropped, but Democrats have 31% identifying with their party while Republicans have slipped to 2009 numbers — a trend we noted during the election that was not being taken into account by most pollsters.

Before Republicans get too gloaty about the mere 31% identifying as Democrats, that’s a number their party hasn’t seen since 2003. And while math is clearly not Republicans best subject, 31% is still bigger than 21%, and it always has been and always will be.

But we should give secret Republicans a break. After all, unless you lived in one of the very red areas of the country, would you want to admit belonging to the party of George Zimmerman and white supremacist aides?

Before we rush to praise the base for finally waking up, we should ask the same question too few asked about ObamaCare. I would posit that perhaps the answer is that conservatives feel the party is not far right enough, just as liberals felt ObamaCare wasn’t good enough because it wasn’t universal healthcare.

However, a recent poll showed that 49% of Republicans think their party should compromise with Obama more. So, Republicans are caught between the tea-leading-the-(leaderless)House and the closed door to the White House. It may be truly that the tea conservatives are destroying the Republican party, which they hijacked with the party’s help via gerrymandering. Some call it karma for cheating, but it’s sorta sad in its easy predictability.

Even Republicans know their party is a bucket of fail now, but naturally, this information will never reach the House of Representatives or alter the course of the parasites (House tea Republicans) feeding off of a base so misinformed about reality that they still blame Obama for the bank bailouts. We could all see where this was leading way back in 2010, when Sarah Palin was their chosen puppet leader.
