Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) made it clear that the Russia investigation is coming back if Democrats win control of the House in November.
Swalwell said on MSNBC’s The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, “Again, this is the problem with our investigation was Stone, like many others, was not required to turn over all of the documents that he possessed, the communications he had, his travel records, bank records. We ran a take them at their word investigation. These individuals as you can see are not worthy of being taking at their words. Like the FBI did with George Papadopoulos and Nader, you have to confront them with outside evidence and hopefully get to some measure of the truth. So investigations are not complete by the time that hopefully, we win the house, we may be in a position where we have to do the investigation all over again so the American people know who should be held to account.”

Why the House Russia investigation matters
A Democratically controlled Russia investigation would be Trump’s worst nightmare. After Conor Lamb won the Pennsylvania special election, the White House was warning Trump that a Democratic House would be the “doomsday scenario” that would lead to a full Russia investigation. It would also be a House investigation that Trump could not corrupt, touch, or interfere with in any way.
Trump could fire Mueller. Trump already killed the Republican-run House investigation, and he is using the Senate Judiciary Committee and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to muddy the Senate investigations. It is important to have an investigation that can’t be obstructed. An investigation with the Democrats in charge would accomplish this important protection of the pursuit of the truth.
In a matter of months, the American people may not have to worry if Trump fires, because the Democrats will be doing a real Russia investigation.
