Instead of waxing philosophically on the achievements of past presidents, it is worthwhile to take stock of the current President and recognize the monumental hurdles he cleared while battling Republicans who made destroying his presidency and the nation's economy their sole reason for serving in Congress.
Now that Republicans have most Americans working for poverty wages, they can turn their full attention to those nearing their retirement age, and forcing every American to work until they drop dead.
Republicans who are wont to claim they speak for all Americans say the people oppose higher wages, but if the minimum wage kept pace with the top 1%, it would be $22.62 an hour.
