Mitt Romney learns the hard way that birtherism doesn’t pay in this amazing 15 second destruction put out by the Obama campaign.

Here’s the video:

The video script is short and sweet,

Holding out hope Romney had a vision for the middle class? Think again.

Mitt Romney: “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

Embracing unfounded conspiracy theories, distracting from real issues.

America doesn’t need a Birther-in-Chief.

It took the Obama campaign 15 seconds to completely take Mitt Romney apart for daring to skinny dip in the cesspool of birtherism. This feat is even more impressive when you consider that the Romney campaign has been fumbling around for months trying to find any catch phrase that will resonate with voters, including their Fox News derived bumper sticker, “You didn’t build that,” which has been turned into a total joke by the fact that Romney can’t seem to avoid holding events and conventions in places that we did in fact build with our taxpayer dollars.

In some backwards, worst evil genius ever way, it’s like Romney was trying to go birther in order to get the media to stop talking about his tax returns. When racism looks like an upgrade compared to talking about your tax returns, you have a lot of problems, and when making a racist remark about the legitimacy of the President of the United States seems like sound political strategy, things have gone very, very wrong.

Mitt Romney wants President Obama and his supporters to get outraged over his birther joke, just like he wanted to be booed while addressing the NAACP. Being hated by the left would only help Romney’s street cred with his own party, but Obama didn’t take the bait. The Obama campaign did the last thing that Romney wanted. They tied his “joke” back to the fact that he has no plan for the middle class. They used his “humor” to argue that Romney has no answers, so he is trying to distract voters.

Strategically, the Romney campaign was trying to get Obama on the defensive. Romney has been pummeled all summer because Obama has been controlling the agenda and running the national discussion. Romney has been on the defensive virtually every week since he clinched the nomination. The birther joke was Romney’s weak attempt to knock the president’s campaign back on its heels.

It didn’t work.

The Obama campaign needed one fourth of a minute to turn Romney’s offensive maneuver into a reminder to Independents and the middle class of why they should not vote for him.

Once again proving the lesson that Republicans never learn; birtherism is a political crime that doesn’t pay.
