On his radio show today Rush Limbaugh called for war with Iran, but Rush doesn’t want to use ground troops but massive bombing raids. Limbaugh said, “The only way to stop them is to destroy the Iranian regime, the mullahs, and that can only be accomplished through war.”

Limbaugh said, “Now ladies and gentleman as far as Iran is concerned, the only way to stop them is to destroy the Iranian regime, the mullahs and that can only be accomplished through war, and by war, I don’t mean ground troops, I mean massive bombing raids intended to destroy every one of the key targets. The question is whether or not we have the will to do this anymore.”
Limbaugh described the people running Iran as irrational religious fanatics, but then he got back on subject, “I don’t know whether we have the will to do this or not. Bush didn’t because he was engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they would have impeached him if he tried. Obama’s tied up in knots with his own appeasement mentality, left wing base. Everything Obama is touching is coming apart…”
He went into full neo-con fear mongering mode, “If we don’t pound Iran into submission at some point, they are going to get the bomb. They’re bragging about it. They’ve told us. They’ve shunned the inspectors, and they laugh about it all. If Israel doesn’t attack them, the world will forever be a hostage to an Islamic regime that could fire mid range and eventually long range nuclear missiles when it chooses. Now we know that Obama won’t take effective military steps to stop Iran, so Israel doesn’t, it will in fact become a nuclear regime.”
The problem with Limbaugh’s reasoning is that the National Intelligence Estimate said that, “We judge with high confidence that Iran will not be technically capable of producing and reprocessing enough plutonium for a weapon before about 2015.” Yet Rush is ready to declare war on Iran.
The neo-con point of view assumes that Iran would sit themselves be bombed without retaliation. A war with Iran could not be won simply with air strikes. If the US starts bombing Iran, they will retaliate, most likely by attacking US forces in Iraq. Iran has 350,000 ground troops, which would make Iraq and Afghanistan seem like child’s play compared to war with Iran.
The Bush Doctrine has already been proven to be a failure, and perhaps the only move that would be worse that the US attacking Iran would be for Israel to attack Iran. Such action would result in a large scale regional war, which the US would be drawn into. The more things change, the more they stay the same on the right wing.

This idiot has been the source of much humor over the past few years, but this is not funny. He proposes we unilaterally start a war with massive bombing. How many innocent people will die in Iran in these raids? How many more of our soldiers, sailors and airmen will die pursuing his plans while he sits safe at home? The immorality of this idea is breath-stealing. It affirms my belief that all too often, wars are instigated and supported by cowards who are all too willing to send our nation’s young men (and now women) to stand in for them in their macho posturings. It’s so much easier to bluster and threaten and be a man when someone else is actually doing the fighting and dieing for you. It is time for this country to give Rush Limbaugh what he truly deserves – complete disregard.

Limbaugh has no idea what the repercussions of that act would be. 1 billion muslims would rise up in defense of Iran and do anything and everything in their power attack us from inside this country and outside the U.S., too. And guess what, Pakistan has the bomb. These chickenhawks never think through anything. Rush is a dangerous and stupid man who soews hate and lies and is an unpatriotic cancer on this country. The US does not start wars–but if someone attacks us, we defend ourselves. Iran has not attacked us.
