Rep. Bachmann Hints that Democrats Are Behind the Swine Flu

Rep. Michelle Bachmann called it an “interesting coincidence” that the United States is dealing with another outbreak of the swine flu, because, according to her the last one occurred under a Democratic president, which it didn’t unless Gerald Ford was a Democrat.

Here is the video courtesy of Think Progress:

Like any good conspiracy theorist Bachmann points out that she is not blaming President Obama, “I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under Democrat President Jimmy Carter. And I’m not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it is an interesting coincidence.” (In other words, she’s not saying Obama’s behind it, but we only seem to get swine flu when Democrats are in charge).

The last time that I wrote something about Michelle Bachmann it was raining, and as I write this now it is also raining. Now, I am not saying that Michelle Bachmann controls the weather. I just find it to be an interesting coincidence that it rains when I write about her. This is the kind of logic that Bachmann is using.

The only problem is that she doesn’t have her facts straight. The last outbreak of swine flu occurred in 1976, when Gerald Ford, a Republican, was president, which means that there are no correlations between the party that controls the White House and the swine flu.

You would think that the people of Bachmann’s district would be so embarrassed by her that they would never reelect her, but they did. It makes me wonder what kind of people live in the 6th District in Minnesota? Are they even aware of what their representative is saying? It is fitting that on the same day in which Arlen Specter left the GOP, Bachmann comes out with this. If Specter was an example of the old Republican Party, then Bachmann is the face of the new GOP.

  1. Don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for this nitwit! I do live in Bachmann’s district and STILL cannot figure out how the people here were STUPID enough to re-elect this nutjob. Everytime this woman opens her mouth I cringe. Are Republicans so desperate that they have to keep running morons like this? I thought her “America is running out of rich people” remarks were over the top, but this really brings home the reality of just how sick (mentally) that this woman is. WHAT A TOTAL EMBARRASSMENT!!!!!

  2. A person must understand that Michele’s district is Stearns County which was known for the famous Stearns County Syndrome which is the main effect of inbreeding causing mental retardation and neoconservative attitudes towards life.

Conservatives from Stearns County are easy to spot due to the lack of spade between the eyebrows.

  3. Really, let’s keep electing Michelle. She brightens the day of every right-thinking person in America. Michelle is doing just a great job — of assuring that the Republicans continue to crash and burn. Thanks Michelle!

  4. At first I wanted to agree with the above and say…yes let’s continue to elect this nut jobs like Michelle B and Palin etc. but the fact remains that we have to STOP these people from EVER getting close to any elected office. Let’s not ever have a Republican in office! Let them have a view point from the side line only. They should be only allowed to watch the game of politics and never be allowed to play in the sand box. What is really more sad is that the American people have gotten the shaft for the last decade and Obama and company has to clean up the mess. Just imagine if Mr. Obama did not have to clean up this crap how really effective he could be. By the time he turns it all around it will be time for him to go. I would like for Obama to have 12 years in office. He would only be 59 and with 12 years of experience. If they can give Mike Bloomberg a third term in NYC then lets fight to change the rules now! There is nothing wrong with a Black FDR! Go Obama and screw the Repulicans. The only good rebulican is a dead repulican period!
