Beware! Glenn Beck is Armed at the Movies

On his Fox News Channel program today, Glenn Beck lamented the defeat of an amendment that would have allowed people with concealed carry gun permits to carry their guns across state lines. Beck went into his love of guns and said, “I went to the movie this weekend with a gun. And surprise, surprise, I didn’t kill anybody!”

Here is the video courtesy of Think Progress:

Beck said, “I’m a gun owner, and I’m a member of the NRA, and I am a concealed weapons permit holder. So, I mean, I love guns!”After listening to NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg warn that criminals could go the movies, carrying a gun, and there is nothing the city police could do about it, Beck said, “I went to the movie this weekend with a gun. And surprise, surprise, I didn’t kill anybody!”

There is something scary about the idea of Glenn Beck walking the streets with a loaded gun. Glenn doesn’t seem like the most stable guy. Somebody needs to tell him that the Transformers aren’t real. He could have left the gun at home. In all seriousness, Beck likely carries the gun for personal protection. I happen to agree with Sen. Thune on this one.

I think that the amendment is fine as long as the gun owner is forced to respect the laws of the state that they are entering. I think that it would be a violation of state’s rights for the federal government to pass a blanked federal concealed carry law. I know my position doesn’t seem very liberal, but I have no problem with guns. However, the idea of somebody as paranoid as Glenn Beck walking around with a gun does give me cause for pause.
