Sarah Palin Blames Hacked E-Mail Account for 2008 Election Defeat

While testifying in court today, Sarah Palin came up with a brand new excuse for the losing the 2008 election to Barack Obama. Palin stated under oath that the hacking of her email account cost her and that guy John McCain the election. She said, “I don’t think an illegal action like this is a prank. Not when you consider how impacting it was on a presidential election. It went beyond a prank.”

Here is some MSNBC video of Palin addressing the media after her testimony:

According to WBIR in Knoxville, Palin played the mama card first, “A mama wants to be there to help the kids, so it was a big darn deal to have that communication stripped away.” Then she dropped the bombshell of her belief the hacked Yahoo Mail account cost her the election, “I don’t think an illegal action like this is a prank. Not when you consider how impacting it was on a presidential election. It went beyond a prank.”

The queen of the obvious stated, “We’ll let the jury talk to Mr Kernell with their assessment of the damage that is done when you illegally hack in to somebody’s personal private mailbox to distribute the contents to the world. It’s not right, it’s not legal, and it’s not fair and decent. So I think he may be receiving the message.”

There is one little part that Sarah Palin left out. It is also her fault. What kind of idiot uses an unsecured public Yahoo Mail account, when they are not only a sitting state governor, but also the Republican vice presidential nominee? Hacking into someone’s email account is wrong. That’s why it is against the law. Once again the question is, why was she using Yahoo Mail in the first place, and more importantly was she conducting state business outside of her state email account? What was she doing that she did not want on the record?

The idea that a hacked email account cost her the 2008 presidential election is pure fantasy and is not backed up by the polls. On September 17, when the hacked emails hit the public, McCain trailed Obama 50%-44%. (Obama ended up defeating McCain 53%-46%). In fact, there was not a single poll released at the time her email account was hacked that showed McCain/Palin beating Obama/Biden. The GOP loss in 2008 had more to do with Palin’s nose diving approval ratings than it did with a hacked email account.

Then there is the hypocrisy that Palin herself has done her own bit of computer hacking. According to the September 20,2004, Anchorage Daily News, “Sarah Palin never thought of herself as an investigator. Yet there she was, hacking uncomfortably into Randy Ruedrich’s computer, looking for evidence that the state Republican Party boss had broken the state ethics law while a member of the Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission.”

Once again, Palin has proven herself to not only be a hypocrite, but also unable to take responsibility for any of her own failing. Palin the egotistical narcissist refuses to consider the notion that she is the reason why the ticket lost in 2008. She can’t accept the idea that her inability to sound remotely competent on any issue doomed the ticket. She refuses to believe that the American people quickly saw through her winks and smiles, and detected a person that should never be trusted with the levers of power. Sarah Palin tried to snow job the American people and she failed. The email hacker didn’t lose to Barack Obama. Sarah Palin did.

  1. Thanks for this! The world needs to know what a lyin’ grifter b*tch she it!!!
She lied, She lied! Every time she opens her mouth a lie pops out!!!
Bristol lied too! Mecede Johnston has made a public statement on this.

  2. Wow, talk about reading what you want into a comment. She said it “impacted” the Presidential Election. Big difference between impacting it and costing her the defeat.

If it changed the narrative in the news cover for just one moment, then it impacted the election. If she got one question about that instead of something else, it impacted the election. If the campaign had to divert any time or resources away from the campaign to deal with this story, then it impacted the election.

She never said how big or small that impact was, and she certainly never blamed the defeat on the e-mail hacking.

  3. @AmericanElephant, Sigh, the point is that it didn’t impact the election at all look at the poll numbers. She is lying to herself if she thinks so.

  4. @AmericanElephant,

How could it have “impacted” the election, when they were never winning?

There’s no other way to take this comment.

Sore loser-ness does not need to be contagious.

  5. I think I articulated how it could have “impacted” the election. Maybe she should have used the word “campaign” instead, but the meaning behind her statement is clear to anyone who isn’t blinded by Palin-Hatred so much that they can’t comprehend the English language. You can pretend she said it cost them the election all day long, but that is not what she said.

  6. @AmericanElephant, She didn’t say could have she said did, and the post wasn’t about you it was about what Sarah Palin said, so nice try little fishy, but you are still on the hook.

  7. @AmericanElephant,

“Not when you consider how impacting it was on a presidential election.”

How do you parse this to mean anything other than: It (hacking) impacted a presidential election?

And since she lost, she’s saying she might have won otherwise….

which is a delusion, not reality.

  8. @AmericanElephant,
If you want to address the comment by dissecting it, let’s do it in its entirety. She did not say impacted, which means it had a part; she said “how impacting”, which signifies that it had more than just a minimal influence. It also is implying that it somehow changed the course of the election. So there is a major difference netween the word you used and the words that she used. Either way, she didn’t have a snowball’s chance to win; and since has played martyr to anything and everything to fault anyone but herself.

If you really want to dissect a statement, why was gov’t business being conducted on private, unsecured lines?

  9. @AmericanElephant,

Though granted, her grammar is so poor that perhaps you couldn’t understand what she meant.

“Not when you consider how impacting it was ….”

Otherwise known in English as, “When you consider how much it impacted a presidential election, ….” AKA: IT IMPACTED THE ELECTION.

  10. @Jason Easley,

In what dictionary do you find that the word “impact” means “reversed the result” Please enlighten me. It means to influence or effect. A freaking fly landing on the hood of my car can “impact” the aerodynamics and thus the speed, but it doesn’t change the direction I’m going in.

  11. At any rate, Palin’s vindictiveness was on display for the whole world to see today.

She wants to crucify Kernell while her own kids commit criminal acts and suffer not one whit.

Hypocritical bitch. Lousy mother. Lying grifter.

And BTW, she herself is guilty of really hacking into a state computer (Rudy Ruederich, remember that whole brouhahah in AK?) She has already admitted to it.

  12. @srjones, I understand the English language quite well, enough not to interject a meaning that wasn’t there.

  13. @AmericanElephant,

Please explain how you parsed the sentence to mean anything other than she is claiming the hacking impacted the election, otherwise, this is a meaningless attempt to defend the indefensible.

  14. Here the problem with all of this under the federal regulation of email a sitting Governor must use the state email set up for full accountability so if she used any other account other than her state email for any type of state business she has committed a federal felony and needs to charged accordingly.

  15. @Oldsun,

She also avoided FOIA requests for over a year and a half from her state email address, only turning them over long after she had quit. And she tried to charge citizens who requested them over 300,000 dollars, which of course, was prohibitive. She also tried to charge MSNBC an outrageous amount, but eventually they prevailed and her emails were turned over, though many of them were redacted due to privilege. Sadly, those emails (which were about state business, appointments of cabinet members, etc) were also cc’d to Todd, her husband, leading to questions regarding the claim of privilege.

  16. There are some very incriminating (to me anyway, bordering on explosive) emails available on Crivella West (the database set up by MSNBC when they received some of the requested emails, for instance, an exchange that began late May (look for an email dated June 3) from Palin using her yahoo account to Ivy Frye and others, cc’ing Todd, the emails as you scroll down the page have to do with the ADN and they mention things like emails to the governor get forwarded so that “you don’t know who reads them,”; they won’t use the State account because some of their information is “privileged”; it is hard to reach the governor by email since some “box” was closed to them … the emails discuss Palin being the head of the “rebellion,” wearing red as a sign, not being aligned with the Republican Party of Alaska but rather being independent. Go read, get this information out there, especially to David Kernell’s lawyer(s)!

  17. Further, if anyone doubts what muscle Todd put behind the governor’s seat in AK, there is an email from Todd Palin on his yahoo account, dated 10/1/2007 to Kristina Perry on her government account:
    “Kris,
I heard a little of what went on today regarding dad and my involvement in whatever. It reminds me when Tib told Emil not to hire Jerry Ward because Todd had concerns etc..I guess I’m easy to blame it on even though theirs (sp? should be there’s, I guess) others that want the same change.
Please remind everybody that dad was offered to serve on an advisory committee, but he’s not going to accept. For Miller to accuse my dad or me for any wrong doing is unbelievable and another reason for a needed change in AIDEA.”

  18. Sorry I’m with SJones on this one – what she is implying is that since they lost the election the result may have been otherwise had the hacking not occurred.

She surely doesn’t mean – oh it impacted us a few points in the polls, or oh it impacted us by distracting us from the campaign trail – but of course, or should a say Palinesquely, “also too though”, with Palin it’s always a challenge to know what the hell she is talking about since she can hardly string a coherent sentence together on a good day.

  19. @srjones, that the other problem it is illeagla to cc any one who is not on the payroll of the state and involved with the contents of the email. Todd should have never been on any email. This is again a federal fenoly why is she not in cuffs WTF why is she allowed to taint this world with her poisonness hate speech.

  20. To all Libtards attacking American Elephant:

If you elitists would actually tap into some of that awesome education you all claim you have in those damn liberal-biased schools, you would have learned to speak English properly like American Elephant.

Sarah Palin’s campaign to be vice president of the US was clearly impacted by the hacked emails. And those poll numbers you cite about them trailing the whole way doesn’t mean anything. Those are liberal polls and we all know liberal polls lie. They cook the numbers.

Real Americans know in our hearts by using our guts and by listening to what’s right under our nose that McCain/Palin was winning in 2008. Until the hacked emails.

That turned the course of history!!!!

And just so you all finally open your eyes and hear what American Elephant is saying…let me quote him:

“A freaking fly landing on the hood of my car can “impact” the aerodynamics and thus the speed, but it doesn’t change the direction I’m going in.”

So there you go. Clearly, if you libtards are the least bit sane, you all can understand, and must admit, that a fly landing on the hood of a speeding, American-made patriotic car, would ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY impact that speed of that vehicle.

Them flies weigh more than you think; flies are heavy. And strong.

That hacked email incident was like a strong fly landing on the hood of Sarah Palin’s American made “car”paign.

American Elephant, you keep telling the truth, brother! I got your back!

  22. @Oldsun,

I know and I could tell you other stories that would curl your toes re the emails. She ran Alaska like a thug, and still does from behind the scenes. They are terrified of her there.

Things like: Todd’s sister gets arrested for stealing with her young daughter WITH her as she breaks into a house for the third time to rob someone, she gets busted in the house stealing money again. She does NOT go to jail. However, Levi’s mom gets busted selling her pain meds and she goes to jail.

Palin has been arrested and charged with a felony which she got reduced, but did you hear that brought up during the campaign?

Nope. All is quiet in the hushed woods of Alaska where the thugs run free with witchdoctors hunting down anyone who dares cross Sister Sarah.

  23. Why, oh, why does this woman have any supporters? She broke the law many times in Alaska, and walks around like a peahen, raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars with every ‘speech.’ What is the appeal? The stilettos? The makeup? Surely her claims of ‘loving the kids’ ring false even to her fans by now, as she obviously can’t be bothered to spend any time with them. Who makes sure their homework gets done? Who makes sure they are dressed appropriately for school? How monitors their weekend activities? It is one thing to be a working mother in the same town as our kids. It is quite another to try to do so when you are spending most of your days thousands of miles away, along with your spouse. And doesn’t she have a beautiful special needs toddler? He probably would enjoy some time with good old mom. I know, the kids are off limits. Just google Willow and figure out when the Palins (sans Willow) cut their Hawaii vacation short in January.
As far as this hacking and “how impacting it was” she has forgotten the real reason McCain lost. He rushed back to DC because the sky was falling. He voted for Bush’s bailout. Right or wrong, that turned the campaign into one of defense instead of offense. Had he stayed true to his beliefs, I think even the Palin factor could have been overcome. But he caved, and they lost. It had NOTHING to do with the hacker, although it would have been nice for someone to question why she had the account at all, and what she was trying to hide. She is a slippery thing, but her crimes will be accounted for eventually. Someday we’ll hear Palin apologize. Someday, something WILL be her fault.

  24. Can it be possible for her to be any more of a ditzoid than we already know her to be?

    Apparently yes.

So, if only she hadn’t used “Wasilla High” as a password reminder, our country could now be under the ugly control of McCain/Palin.

So, Wasilla High turned out to be good for something, then.

  25. @DB9, Can you honestly not read? She said that it impacted the election. Since she lost the election, she does not mean that the hacked email account impacted it in a positive way. Try to spin all you want, but she was saying that the email account hacking cost her the election.

  26. @greg,

We welcome the grammar refugees from C4P with open arms. I have to tell you how charming I find C4Peers use of the word “loon”. It’s sort of sweet. Also, too, I love how you guys pick one insult and just stick to it on all websites.

It’s so easy to pick y’all out in a crowd.

Welcome! I hope you donated to SarahPAC today. Run, Sarah, Run!

  27. What a bunch of bullcrap… typical liberal left wing ravings by a dolt with an IQ below 70…. but, I guess when the leader of these dolts, Dolt God Obama, thinks there are 57 states, lies continually, and is corrupt as any Chicago politician and advances his marxist black nationalist agenda, what else can we expect?

  28. “and advances his marxist black nationalist agenda”

Another racist I see. Oh, and Obama is a Marxist???
I don’t think a Marxist would’ve helped Wall Street, dufus.

  29. Conservative Heart, You mean all those hacked FELONY emails??? Con, you should just be happy that idiot goddess of yours isn’t in JAIL.

  30. @Jason Easley,

I see you answered my question in the affirmative. You are indeed as stupid as I suspected.

This guy seems to have a handle on your silliness:

  31. @DB9, Not silly just capable of thought beyond blind loyalty, which is a trait which you apparently have not developed. Run, Sarah, Run. I am rooting for her to win the nomination, so please make a large donation in my name to Sarah PAC.

  32. I guess if anything in them emails made her look bad and impacted her being elected, she probably didnt deserve to be elected.

They were never going to win the election. From the time she opened her mouth till the election was over they never had it.

  33. Hey Bro,
Even Keith Olbermann isn’t picking up on your dumbass narrative. C4P pretty much destroyed your BS here:

  34. @Moderatedude, Those morons can’t destroy anything except the GOP’s chances for the future. I thank them for defying their master’s wishes and clicking on the link, not that we needed their traffic, oh, and I could care less for Olbermann. He’s a tool. See some of don’t have to watch a television network to know what to think. Run Sarah Run. I’m rooting for you. Please make a big donation to Sarah PAC.

  35. Didn’t $arah’s punk ass juvenile delinquent high school drop out quitter son, Trap, get arrested for TAMPERING WITH THE BRAKES OF SCHOOLBUSES???? I guess that WAS a prank…thank god, $arah the christian lady, knows the difference.

  36. This is the funniest thing I have ever read about Simple Sarah. She just cannot take any responsibility for her and McCain’s loss, although he did play a significant role as well. All anyone had to do was watch her in interviews with Katie Couric and Charlie Gibbs. It was painful to witness. Then there were her rallies in which she whipped up a frenzy of hatred toward Obama, another thing that helped to sink that ship. People were turned off by the ugly, divisive rhetoric coming from McCain and Palin. That was on public display, and no one needed to read any e-mails to see this.
