Right Wing Heads Will Explode as President Obama Joins ‘Fellow Christians’ in Celebrating Easter

Barack Obama

Your Republican alleged “Marxist, Muslim, Kenyan, illegitimate, Nazi, Socialist” President will be celebrating Easter and is reflecting on the sacrifices Christ made so that Republicans could be cruel and laugh at the poor for mankind.

The President also mentioned following Christ’s example by loving our neighbors as ourselves, and that won’t go over well with the Right wing ‘Christians’ who claim that Jesus loved self-serving rich people who impose austerity on the little children out of contempt for their poverty.

Obama said in his statement, “This weekend, Michelle and I join our fellow Christians in marking Good Friday and celebrating Easter. We will reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us and rejoice in the triumph of the Resurrection.”

The President continued, “This season reminds us that God is always with us, in suffering and in celebration. We give thanks for the many blessings in our lives and renew our commitments to follow Christ’s example by loving God and loving our neighbors as ourselves. We wish all who celebrate a blessed Easter.”

Normally this sort of thing wouldn’t be controversial, but with a Republican Party that doesn’t believe the first black president is “legitimate” and also believe he’s not a Christian because apparently black people aren’t Christians (?), the President referring to his religious beliefs has now become a reason for a Right wing freak out.

We will let them freak out whilst the rest of us enjoy our sanity over the Easter weekend. It’s worth noting that the President’s version of Christianity is the one shared by most American Christians, and the hate and division preached by the Right is most loud but also more fringy.

Sure, they run the Republican Party platform (see Paul Ryan’s immoral budget), but they are not the norm. Most Americans want to help their fellow man and don’t have contempt for anyone who isn’t white, rich, male, and heterosexual. The Right doesn’t own Christianity, even though they seem to think they do. No one owns true faith, for obvious reasons. And the people who are walking the talk of Christ are predictably not the people running on Christ bumper stickers.

There are many ways we are informed and guided morally. I don’t care how people get there, I only care that they arrive.
