Racist Trump Tries To Link Baltimore And Ferguson Uprisings To Illegal Immigrant Gangs

In an interview with a Mobile, Alabama talk radio station, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continued his war on illegal immigrants, by blaming them for recent civil unrest in Baltimore and Ferguson. During the interview, Trump stated:

You know, a lot of the gangs that you see — this doesn’t hopefully pertain to you guys so much — when you look at Baltimore, when you look at Chicago, and Ferguson a lot of these areas. You know, a lot of these gang members are illegal immigrants. They’re gonna be gone. We’re gonna get them out so fast, out of this country. So fast.

In typical Trump fashion, he provided no evidence for his claim, and he offered no specifics on how he would implement his policy to remove all the “illegals” so fast. Furthermore, by invoking Ferguson and Baltimore in his rhetoric against gangs, he was implying that the demonstrations in those cities were gang-related, rather than community responses to egregious acts and persistent patterns of police brutality.

Obviously Trump knows that the community responses in Baltimore and Ferguson came primarily from African-American U.S. born citizens. However, by linking urban unrest in African-American neighborhoods to illegal immigration, Trump can rhetorically try to discredit the “black lives matter” movement and Latino immigrants in one fell swoop.

He is making a distinctly racist argument that essentially casts all non-whites as unworthy of citizenship in the United States. He also is attempting to conflate African-American social justice movements with illegal immigration in an attempt to de-legitimize those movements.

This is nothing new for Trump. For example, Trump has also embraced the “birther conspiracy theory” . Trump has promoted the bizarre claim that Barack Obama faked his birth certificate, and that he was not born in the United States.

While the right-wing in America will never admit to being racist, the implications of Trump‘s arguments are all too clear. The only real Americans are the “good white folks.” Americans of color are illegitimate and their claims to citizenship are suspect. This doesn’t just apply to Latinos in Los Angeles or Laredo. It also applies to blacks in Baltimore and to the President of the United States himself.

  1. Say huh?

It it one thing to be a Nativist bigot.

It is another to incite violence through false accusations.

  2. Is this true?

  3. I think Trump is pushing for a revolution. If you don’t look like him and his base, he’ll get rid of you by any means possible. Sort of in line with the reichwing extremist in this country.

  4. …wouldn’t doubt that one damned bit…Idiotologes like Trump believe rules only apply to peones…

  5. Trump fits right in with the reichwing nation of this country. The only difference is he’s a celebrity billionaire. He’s already met with the top henchmen so he knows what he’s doing, and he’s being encouraged to perform as the clown he is. He wants to “make America great again” by any means possible. I now consider him to be a dangerous man. For those who think Trump is one of them, don’t be fooled by all his bragging. Trump’s only concern is about Trump.

  6. In my view, Trump is stirring up rampant violence against “others” because he intends to use it to gain the ultimate trophy — the White House.

  7. Trump held his big rally in Alabama for a reason: to stir up the same people who enacted the most draconian anti-immigrant laws in the nation.

A bit like Reagan kicking off his campaign in Philadelphia Mississippi, where the three civil rights workers were murdered, though not as drastic.

Still the Senator from Alabama is currently proposing to take citizenship away from ALL immigrants.

  8. I’m not sure what he thinks he is accomplishing. Once you consolidate your base on a myopic messages, and the concentrated populist force is directed toward a specific target, the only result will be a critical mass of explosive social comeuppance. It would appear that the GOP, per Trump campaigning, is targeting Mexicans at the perpetrators of all our economic woes. Positing that the only way to improve our nation’s economy is to focus all our contempt those people, who have to be eliminated for us to be prosperous again. The media are happy to oblige.

  9. No one person can that freaking ignorant, right? I mean… I don’t know about you guys, I don’t think there’s that many people of Latino decent in both of those cities.

To say what happened there was the result of gangs full of “illegal” Latinos just shows how freaking inept Trump is. Yet, the people eat it up… I said this yesterday, all he knows how to do is bluster and push buttons, and those buttons are near the point being jammed stuck.

  10. 14 Defining Characteristics of Fascism:

    3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause

The most significant common thread among these regimes was the use of scapegoating as a means to divert the people’s attention from other problems, to shift blame for failures, and to channel frustration in controlled directions. The methods of choice—relentless propaganda and disinformation—were usually effective. Often the regimes would incite “spontaneous” acts against the target scapegoats, usually communists, socialists, liberals, Jews, ethnic and racial minorities, traditional national enemies, members of other religions, secularists, homosexuals, and “terrorists.” Active opponents of these regimes were inevitably labeled as terrorists and dealt with accordingly.

  11. I honestly don’t believe Trump is writing his material. He must have a ghostwriter, because he would know that the gangs in Chicago are BLACK. Their suppliers are Latino and most if not all of them are citizens.
WTF? Does he even travel to these cities.

  12. I live 6 miles from Ferguson and I know Trump is totally wrong. I also know that Darren Wilson is a racist cop who murdered Michael Brown.

  13. I think there is a parallel assumption, that if Latino illegals are taking all the low wage jobs that would be filled by Blacks, then the only thing for them to do is join gangs and terrorize the social order. Then you get policing with bullets first, because everyone fears an angry Black man. It’s an exploitative perception, probably brokered by O’Reilly factoring all the racial ramifications.

  14. So!….Illegal Immigrant Gangs of..out of control cops…Yeah!…Right! Sparky!..and Matthew John..YOU! should be ashamed to call yourself a cogent human.

  15. Im convinced Drump doesnt understand many things including anchor babies, The Constitution, the 14th Amendment. the Supreme Court, the fact that America will never elect Bozo the Clown. He’s so used to people just agreeing with him to avoid his tantrums when told no. Can you imagine the hissy fit during the fly-over of a half empty arena. Must have been epic.

  16. …wouldn’t surprise me in the least if, in a couple o’ years we’re missing a few billionaires…

  17. Hitler used the same tactic — disagree with him and he’d blow up, and people would go along with whatever he was saying because they were scared.

  18. Don’t discount Trump or try to minimize his effects, he is probably more dangerous that you realize. Hitler could really get the crowds stirred up, too.

  19. It doesn’t matter whether Trump writes that crap or someone else does, the important thing to remember is that people are listening to him and believing his drivel. We moderates and liberals would be wrong to just write him off as a noisy, but harmless, clown.

  20. “Out of a man’s heart…”

Trump, another wolf in sheep’s clothing – with all due respect to wolves and to sheep.

  21. Yesterday I saw the results of a survey among likely voters. Trumps likely voters had the lowest # of college grads, 8% and the highest # of non high school grads at 60%. Now you know why that hatemonger is doing so well among the members of the hatred party.

  22. As much as I hate to say it, Trump might be right about the gangs in Baltimore. But, they aren’t latino gangs, they are the Bloods and Crips. In the DC/Baltimore area however, there is a large population of MS13 & affiliated gangs. They aren’t Mexican (duh)but, as DT doesn’t know apparently, they are from El Salvador. I think DT thinks all Hispanics are from Mexico, just how uneducated about the topic he is. I am curious however, how he or anyone can determine that a Hispanic is here legally or illegally? They all look alike? they all only speak Spanish? They take away the jobs that no one else wants? WTF? I’m sure none of those crazy loons would ever be so bold as to ask for their papers, just like DT. smh

  23. Trump is a reckless fool who doesn’t care who gets hurt as long as he gets what he wants which is the only thing that matters to him.

  24. The right wingers don’t like Socialism…because…they really don’t know what it is. We have been living in a country for years and years espousing socialistic principles, and that’s good. We need to be careful that Fascism NEVER gets going here, and maybe the rightwing republicans should learn the difference. Another thing…Why isn’t Trumpet calling out Cruz for being born in Canada? I can just betcha why, can’t you imagine it?
